Does anyone know when Verizon will have the Nexus 6 for Pre-Order? Tried going to Google Play store but that failed quick because they sold out in seconds.
Verizon hasn't said anything yet. My theory is that they don't want to take away from their Droid Turbo launch which happened today. The way Verizon thinks it makes sense, however they should know that anyone that has been planning on pre-ordering a nexus 6 will probably not change their mind for a Turbo. Either way I suspect that Verizon will acknowledge the phone and provide pre-orders soon. Only time will tell. I went on chat and asked but they said "they had not been provided any information about that device" so no help there.
No carrier for that matter said any preorder dates/times
T-Mobile is the only carrier said anything about a release, and not a preorder.
I think Google is doing a staggered preorder because they gave carriers majority of the stock available. I think based on T-Mobile there will be no preorder and it will be first come first serve in store and online starting Nov 12.
Yeah there was an review in forbes where the author stated that he was not allowed to do a full review on the phone until november 12th so that date must be go time. Given the t-mobile rumor of being the 12th I wouldn't see verizon being that far behind/ I just hope they actually treat it like a nexus and not lock the hell out of it nor load it with their "useful" apps. A rep at the store tried to steer me towards a g3, note 4, or turbo so I'm curious if it is either him trying to make a sale, or verizon reluctantly selling the nexus 6.
With T-Mobile isn't a rumor. They went on record on multiple occasion from their product manager, and also their press releases Nov 12th is the date for them.
They are trying to make a sale. That's their job. A product isn't out so they will try to get you another product. Sales associates do have a sales performance record. If they sold out on the 6 they'll probably push towards the other devices.
Honestly I am thinking about getting the Turbo if I can unlock the bootloader. Same specs almost, but better battery and smaller screen.
The Droid Turbo was announced 2 days before it went on sale. The iPhones 6 was announced 3 days before pre-orders were available and 10 days before release.
I doubt Verizon would do any type of preorder on this phone. Not announcing that the phone exists is stupid. A lot of customers would be willing to sign contracts to get this phone. Makes no sense that Verizon is the only carrier that doesn't want to say anything. I understand about wanting the Droid Turbo to get all its exposure but this is just getting ridiculous at this point. I say the Droid series needs to be released in the summer and not in the Fall. Release the phone in July so it's not competing with anything. That way we can all get what we want without any delay. Oh yeah, Google has announced that they will make more Nexus 6 phones available each Wednesday of each month.
"We are getting more Nexus 6 devices in stock as soon as possible. To make things simpler for you, we will work to make more devices available each Wednesday and encourage you to visit the site then."
Per the Nexus 6 device page on Google Play.
Nexus 6 (32GB, Midnight Blue) - Devices on Google Play
The only carrier that said anything is T-Mobile that is worthwhile. No carrier is doing a preorders. T-Mobile is the only one that gave any type of date. Google themselves gave no date for the preorders let along when they'll ship or even announce when they are officially for sale.
What I seen as Well Tidbits when I was Looking into the Nexus 6
That message popped up today. Verizon will carry it... If you don't want to wait there's 4 other carriers that are willing to take your business.
But why doesn't Google have Verizon on that list with the other carriers that say they are going to have the phone in November? Why does Verizon have to be last to get a phone that other carriers are going to have? I just think that it's a great opportunity for Verizon to have the phone available when everyone else is going to have it. Could be a chance for Verizon to make some money. That's all I'm saying. Not trying to be crucified for giving an opinion.
Well I have three ideas on what is going on
1. Verizon is trying to lock it down as much as possible taking away what makes a nexus an nexus.
2. The nexus 6 is compatible with every carrier meaning if they are not happy with verizon they can take the phone and jump ship very easily. Yes the other phones come unlocked but not like this.
3. They also released the droid turbo that has better specs than the nexus and my guess verizon had quite the influence on since the droid line is their baby, so they do not want any phones to overshadow it.
I was thinking I may have to go through google play anyways to get the nexus 6 I want the 64gb version and I have a sinking feeling that they are only going to carry the 32gb version. Just like there was two sizes of the droid maxx and they just carried the 16gb version (though I think they did sell 32gb but for a very short period of time).
I'm going through the play store as well. I've seen videos of Nexus 6 phones with Verizon sims in them and they worked as well no problem. If I can get it through the play store then I'd be one of a few people with a phone on Verizon that Verizon isn't willing to sell yet. That's the best thing I can think of at this point.
Yeah the Play Store version will work with any carrier no problem. The only thing is that I really don't want to spend $700 outright for it. Edge program would have been nice, however looks like Verizon is going to take the pathetic route and mess up their version of the Nexus again. Guess I would have to start saving up and cut some other cost for this month...
They can't mess it up...
The PROBLEM there is only 1 model. Verizon can't change anything without having a new model and have it go through the FCC. That isn't going to happen.
So my question is then...if the Nexus 6 is ONE model only. Would a non-Verizon carrier sold Nexus 6 work on Verizon? Because that could be another possible solution unless it gets locked upon activation at the other carrier
I would be shocked (Shocked!) if there's a Verizon version of another Nexus phone. They had their chance with the Galaxy Nexus and blew it in pretty much every way possible. Every update was delayed by weeks or months and we never got the last update for that phone. It was abandoned when the earliest buyers still had a year left on their contracts even tho Google released another major update. The Nexus line is supposed to be on the bleeding edge of Android with no crapware. That's the opposite of everything Verizon stands for.
Google dropped support for it on their own there was a Google groups thread about it but no one bothered to read it. I used to have it bookmarked but it was taken down.
Google devs gave up going through the process. When they did the AOSP project with Sony they found found out carriers was the least of the problem.
CDMA was the biggest problem and the reason why Google released the PDK to quicken the process. Without the PDK they found the process for just that part alone averaged 6 to 8 months on it's own. Carrier testing took no longer than a month.
Actually
Nexus devices were NEVER supposed to be the bleeding edge. It was to move technology farther. It is made to force manufacturers to make a better product. It's the bar that forces manufacturers to shoot over. It's also a marker for developers to code on. Code for the lowest Nexus and the highest Nexus and it "should" work on all android devices provided manufacturers(Samsung is NOTORIOUS for) modify libraries awkwardly.
So you'd be shocked if Verizon would try to make more money huh on a nexus . Yeah the first one kinda sucked via Samsung. Never underestimate what what big black will do to fill a bottomless pit. Fool you once..
Went to the source and called Google. Google is stating currently that Verizon is not supported but is coming soon. Contacted Verizon and of course mums the word there surprise surprise. But Google is stating towards December for a launch. Starting to wonder if they are drinking the one plus one juice.
Basically the point here is not that they push other devices, but that they have ignored the device that matters to those here. Not only do they not mention it, but when google makes statements, Verizon is left out of the picture as well. We know the device works on Verizon, but some want to know if they can get it on contract at a discount, and when they will be able to. Google is also changing the nexus line to be more main stream, hence the carrier launches. If the current goal of the nexus line is just to show android to developers, then it would have stayed strictly on the play store. Moving to carriers with subsidies brings this device to the maintstream. Instead of bashing those that are upset that Verizon has made no mention, just understand that it is purely frustration that people like myself feel because Verizon is the only carrier that ignores the fact that they will be carrying it. We currently have no idea if it will be in stores, and if so, when? Verizon can put this info out there and push the Droid Turbo at the same time. I'm not saying it needs to be plastered on the front page, just that Verizon should tell us whether or not they will sell it themselves. Then those that really want it will know they will have to buy it somewhere else.

If they want more developers they had to find a way to get it into their hands better. Some newly developers can't afford to dump hundreds to thousands of dollars. With it going to carrier of choice it'll help alleviate the initial burden of cost. Also this allows developers to pick their carrier of choice and field test their apps on daily use instead of just in the office because the coverage is terrible or expensive to have multiple carriers(I actually have 3 of 4 major carrier plans).
Also by having it released the way it is it forces manufacturers to push over the bar. With the Nexus 5 manufacturers are pushing the 801 which is just an overclocked 800. Google could have gone 801 and we wouldn't see 808, or 810 devices next year. With them being on all carriers it forces manufacturers to do more.
Those who really want it will go buy it somewhere else. We all know it is supported on Verizon. If they really want they'll go somewhere else. I would... Did...
I'll never buy a Nexus 6 on Verizon after the Galaxy Nexus abomination. Noooooo way.
Too bad...
The Nexus 6 is no different than the others. Unlike the Galaxy Nexus which I said would be treated differently from the beginning.
Model numbers are the SME the whole way around. Galaxy Nexus had different model numbers even software signatures. That alone right there showed they were different. This time around there are the same all the way around. Google can't put in software to affect other devices on other carriers.
Thank you for your developer work I know you guys don't get enough credit. Google just did another round of preorders on the play store and it was snatched up in under a minute not good.
They only probably only doing 10K units at a time. Motorola doesn't have the resources to make Apple or Samsung like number of units. I am not going to bother for a while with the play store. I don't mind waiting.

Worked pretty good too.!
I am only going to speculate here...

Nexus 6 will be the same way, and a F*YA!
I was reading someplace it will be Nov 21, black fri.
So the rumor going around is it may be released on the 13th which seems odd but how screwy this roll out has been anything is possible. Just thought I would post it though a saturday roll out seems very weird.
I don't remember Verizon ever doing a rollout of any device on a weekend.
I honestly never paid enough attention on the certain day of the week for a phone release so I am not sure. In one aspect it makes sense seeing people would be off of work to get the phone. Yet on the other hand from what I have gathered that day of the week is not an normal thing. So I guess it can be taken with a 50/50 shot until the day comes.
If I remember correct Verizon likes to do things on Tuesdays or Thursdays on releases in most cases. It's just I don't remember a device coming out on weekends. Maybe they do it on ninja releases?
This could be the answer to the needle drop commenting from verizon about the nexus 6 if it turns out to be true.
Nexus 6-like Motorola Droid phablet release date set for mid-2015 | BGR
Supposedly they are releasing an droid phone similar to the nexus 6 but with crazier specs and it will be a verizon exclusive. Just found it intriguing and it makes sense. Sell a phone similar to the nexus that is locked down to their network versus the nexus which is capable of being used on any carrier (yeah verizon already has the lte unlock due to fcc regulation but still) should be interesting to see what happens.
