When I get a voicemail there is no voicemail icon at top on the notifications bar and I never know when I have a voice mail without having to check directly.
Are you subscribed to the basic non-visual voicemail or a visual voicemail?

You might want to check all of preferences and settings in the voicemail system to verify the notifications are turned on. I don't recall exactly where it is in those settings, but it is there.
Wgiellum, making sure you're notified when you get a voice mail is a must. How long has this been going on? How do you usually access your voice mail? How often does this happen?
