Poor cell service constantly dropping calls

What the heck is happening to Verizon’s cell service!? I have been a loyal Verizon customer since the first flip brick phones came out and you pulled out the antenna when you answered your phone and my service has been great. I live in N.W. Washington state and over the last 6 months or more my service has gradually gotten horrible! I can even listen to Pandora in my car anymore because the service cuts out 10-20 during a song! I’m constantly getting dropped call and lost signal! I pay a premium price for my service and I’m very unhappy. I’ve called Verizon, not luck there I went to the Verizon store and still no luck! “What the heck Verizon” get it together! I don’t want a fancy corporate apology I want my old service back!

Both my wife and I have also had recent and sudden experience of dropped calls on Verizon. Not at work for both of us just at home. Full service bars have dropped to 1 or 2 and that’s when the problem started. Face time over wifi no problem. Wifi through ATT no problem. Just cellular service even with wifi enameling turned on. A scheduled call to service promising no waiting had me waiting 30 minutes until ... yup my called dropped. Several repeats of this and finally got through but unfortunately ended up with a smooooth talker Verizon guybfrom Giorgia that dances and doged and offered me no solution. He was not buying that bars dropped from full to one or two and that had any connection to the problem. I drive and talk on my phone and when I get to a remote area with little service yup dropped calls. I get that. But to drop our service signal from full to 1 or 2 in a big city like Indy. As they offer nothing but garbage and not solutions and I need this service for my work. Our 6 member family plan is going with a non garbage company. Too. As as we have been solid Verizon customers for over 10 years, bought expensive iPhones from them it’s sad that their sense of service has degraded to no service. See ya!

Good luck getting Verizon to help. I can't even talk or receive calls when I'm at home. A place I have lived for over 2 years. I use to be able to talk anywhere at home, but know its ridiculous!! Every time I call there is "unforeseen circumstance" that they can't or wont fix. "Things change" they say. garbage! Same house, same phone, same towers. It's on their end. I'll be switching when this month is up.

Same here. I've had Verizon for years. We are going to have to go buy a house phone again. Verizon always says the same garbage. It's the whole town. Everyone is complaining,yet they say they want to troubleshoot my phone or they will put in a ticket,etc. It's 2020 I live in a suburb of a major US city and can't get friggin cell service!

I am dealing with the same. I have WiFi cell service turned off yet it keeps attempting to switch to WiFi and it drops the call. I am having the same problem. I have been a Verizon Wireless customer for longer than I can remember and have never had the problems that I am having now. It's ridiculous and if it isn't fixed, I'm switching to another carrier.

I used to have very good service at my home and now....nothing. I lost power at the house the other night due to a storm and couldn't get online to do anything. Having nothing better to do while sitting in the dark, I decided to call Verizon wireless to ask why their service is suddenly so lousy and ended up spending over 1 hour waiting for a customer service person to answer my call. They kept trying to push their virtual assistant which is terrible in general and useless in my case because I couldn't get online to access it.

The problem isn't just at my home either. It is in the town where I live and work as well as much of the surrounding area. I don't live out in the middle of nowhere either. This is a major metropolitan area.

Co-workers who also use verizon wireless are having the same problem so it isn't my phone. It is their service (or lack thereof) and they really should be ashamed of their product at this point. The reception is so bad that I had to pair my phone with my car several miles away because there wasn't enough of a signal to make the connection where I live. It is ridiculous. I don't know what they did but I wish that they would undo it and give me my old service back.

I'm having the same issue as the rest of you. I pay too much money for terrible reception! When I first got Verizon it was perfect. In the past year it's been equivalent to when I had Sprint. I tried calling to talk to someone about this today and I wasted 30 minutes and never talked to a soul! That is terrible. I'm in Miami-Dade, 33033, and there should be no reason that all of a sudden I rarely get over 2 bars.

I am in Raleigh, NC and am experiencing the same poor reception with two cell phones and an iphone that previously got great reception. Now we constantly have 1 bar or no service and we are located very close to a cell tower. What's the deal?

We're in Raleigh NC, and are experiencing the exact same thing all day long. We have had Verizon for decades. In fact it has been our ONLY cell provider and we were loyal because of its reliability but at this point we are looking at other options. We are dropping calls inside our home all day long. Given the fact that this is our business phone it is more than problematic. It's costing us clients and it's not sustainable. We have tried reaching out to Verizon and have heard crickets from them. What happened to customer service? You guys used to be awesome. The difference is drastic. The problem only happens in our home (we have lived there for 12 years!!!!!! And had Verizon the ENTIRE time!) We have 2 bars at most in our entire home. We drop calls repeatedly. But if we go outside in the middle of a greenway, we can miraculously conduct business and not drop calls. I never thought we would switch but there's got to be other more reliable options.

We'd always want to know as soon as possible if you were having any sort of issue, but what do you mean when you say that you've tried to reach out to us before and haven't heard anything? How are you trying to contact us where you are not able to reach anyone? Going back to your service description, you had said that your service works quite well once you go outside of your home. That would indicate that your indoor location is the issue, not the network available in the area or your phones: https://www.verizon.com/support/troubleshooting-wireless-signal-coverage-video/ . I have reached out to you via chat and when I have asked what could be done to resolve my newly developed dead zone issue, I have not received an answer. Thank you for your suggestions but how do you propose I do that on the home line that uses Home wireless phone?

In addition, how do you explain that for 12 years the signal inside my home was strong and seamless and suddenly 2 months ago my house has become a dead zone?

When it comes to our cell phones we are enabling wifi calling but the result is garbled voices that make holding a conversation very difficult and unpleasant. What about a network expander? Would that be an option?

In a case like this, where the trouble is indoors only, generally the relevant factor is going to be proximity to cell site. Due to physics, radio frequencies get reduced penetration through solid materials and thus indoor signal is hampered when compared to outdoor signal. This is the reason you may notice a difference when stepping outside, and trying your service. I too have this issue .. . Very important phone calls I've missed because it decided to not ring on that call .. or was on hold and drooled call lost opportunities die to it taking me so long just tosto to someone it's due to it being frustrating and time consuming I hesitate to call as I'm worried I'll be on hold too long .also cuts up slot while I'm on phone or listening to music on my sound bar .... Last night it started doing funny flickering on the phone as music was cutting in and out seriously thought was a virus as it would only stop when I disconnected it ... Not happy at all ...I've had a few friends say there prepaid Verizon and they have no issues what so ever . But everyone that has monthly billing I know had some type of. Issue

This is very interesting. I, too, have been a customer of Verizon for many, many years (even back to Altel days and before) and we have 5 phones on our account. And only recently have I had a problem with calls not being made, being dropped, or calls coming in that are not connected. I tried resetting network settings and the phone itself, per long conversations with Verizon. I've wondered if it's our original SE phones or older batteries. We have people in our family on this account in Atlanta (where this has been the situation), and likewise in Greensboro, NC, and in Statesville, NC (28677). Hey, I'm a fan of Verizon and have always been quick to tell how much I like Verizon, but now I'm having problems staying with y'all. Please help me to stay!

My wife and I are having the same issue. Over the past month we have dropped so many calls, and started receiving intermittent “no service” signals. We both work from home, so this is a critical issue for us.

We actually have worse service if we go outside of our house. The weather could be 100% clear, and we continue to have issues.

I also have used Verizon for over 10 years. I always referred them to others because I never had any drop calls I drive around the city throughout the day that's part of my business in my phone service is very important. now I never get more than one to two bars I called them they try to make excuses and let's troubleshoot etc their service has gone downhill their customer service has gone even worse. I have a phone on simple Mobile that has twice the better service ridiculous and when you call their loyalty to 10-year plus customer is rudeness.

iPay good money for both my phone's to have cellular service, they will blame the phone or construction or anyone except for their own downward fall of service. I don't care what phone I use or construction or anything else if you charge me money I expect full bars and service anddand no rudeness.

Experiencing the same issue throughout Northern Indiana and Southwest Michigan. Issue started about a year ago and has gotten worse.

Like the original comment, Verizon used to be the best network around and I've bragged about the services to those with other carriers over the years. But now it's worse. I don't know what to do or if I'm going to be able to continue with the service.

I've changed sims. Went through new phones including a newer one in case that was an issue. Ran updates. Nothing works. Calls frequently drop in areas where I used to have outstanding service.

I carrry the same make and model cell with a different carrier for work, and it has been much more reliable.

I’m having the same issue with dropping calls. My problem became very pronounced about two weeks ago sept 1 , 2020. I travel for a living mainly in Virginia up and down the I-81 corridor from Roanoke to Winchester and across I-66 to Manassas VA. I have had very few dropped calls on these stretch’s over the past 5 years. I have two Verizon phones. One for work and one personal. Each phone is on a totally different accounts. One phone is set up by my company in their name and shipped to me. I went to the Verizon store and set up a plan for my personal phone. Both phones started having the dropped call issue simultaneously in the same locations. The problem does not seem to be as problematic when I’m not in motion. For instance, stopping at a rest stop for a conference call. However, even this coverage is not near the quality from my past years Verizon experience. I need my phone in to work as it has in the past for my lively hood. I once had sprint in the mid 90s. The service was horrible. This current Verizon service is worse. Whomever did whatever to mess up the quality of Verizon services please know that I have been a very loyal Verizon user. I have stated countless times that Verizon is the Toyota of the cell phone industry. I own Toyota’s and I have Verizon cell services because those name are synonymous with quality. Verizon you are messing with your brand!!!! Once I switch carriers, I will not switch back. Please find a way to fix the quality problems or my business, loyalty, and advocation of your product leaves forever. Fix the issue quickly and all negative objections are forgotten. I’m going to pick up a track phone today to utilize for a month or so simultaneously with my Verizon phones. We will see if I can keep customers on the line longer with a cheap track phone. I have had the same experience here in Richmond, CA. Service was fine until about 2 months ago and now dropped calls have come more and more frequently. Working from home, this has made my work life incredibly difficult. On a personal front, this is the only phone in the home so in an emergency situation, I think these dropped calls put my health and safety at risk. I've been on the phone w a Verizon rep who told me it was that Verizon had shifted to 5G network and so he said he would fedex a 5 G SIM card (would this do anything to fix it?) to me and call the next day to make sure I was connected. He gave me a confirmation number. No sim card ever arrived and he never called back. The dropped calls continue and when I called a customer service rep again, he told me there was no record of the previous call (arent these recorded to ensure proper service?). So here we are, stuck with this service which is really not service at all. I guess I have no choice but to stop being a client of Verizon??

They told my brother that since they're switching to 5G, they're cutting back on 4G. It's a scam to get you to buy a newer phone to get 5G.

As in other post regarding dropping calls and service related the replies from verizon are same but offer no real help or explaining there customer service is lagging for sure as well seems it's not just one area or place having same issue but national problem I am about a mile from tower and can be anywhere in town or at home sitting still and watch my signal how my signal bars go to none or 1 up to 3 or 4 maybe 5 in seconds 11pm and midnight even same result no change to environment, building structures tree etc...

I have been a Verizon customer since the late 90's. I have never had as many issues with the cell service as I have experienced in the past two years. I have reported specific locations of issues several times to the company with no improvements made. I have had the same issues with 3 different phones. I am told by Verizon it is the phones issue. I beg to differ., I cant have a conversation with my family without having the call dropped at least once, EVER. It is getting extremely frustrating for the amount of money paid every month. I too, have begun searching for other companies as this is not acceptable.

I notice every vzw service reply gives NO ONE a solution but feigns interest by asking a question that seems to relate to the issue I live in St. Louis and we experience dropped calls everywhere. Even with a full battery. And the drops occur at the same places. (Lindbergh and 44). ( Hwy 44 Webster Groves exit).
Also does Verizon have a department for dropped calls to be reported to? Or a site on their website you can log in and report areas of repeated drops? They could get all their facts there. Now THAT IS REAL INTEREST. AND REAL HELP!!!

i live in portland, oregon and have the same problem. we have 2 iphones and until this last year have never had any problems with dropped calls. now the problem is CONSTANT. really annoying and embarassing to be on business calls that are constantly dropped. we'll be switching.

I have spent countless hours on calls and chats with their tech team, turning things on and off (wifi, cellular, my wifi, resetting, resetting and resetting), if anything it has gotten worse! And the chats keep dropping so you get the next tech who asks you to do the same things all over again. only positive thing I can say is they are polite.

my experience with there chat is that often they will go silent ( some for over an hour) and give same scripted replies

My Dentist called me this morning 4 different times and i tried to return his calls a number of times. I have tried all morning to get ahold of his office, each time it rings once and cuts off the call, so I call verizon to report the problem, guess what, it cuts off the call after the first ring again. I am ready to try a call to another phone service in this area! This has happened now a number of times. I can not even get an answer to the Problem. How long do we put up with this!

Going inside of any commercial building or home in my area, it's guaranteed that you won't have cell service or it will be one 4G bar that eventually fails. It's sad when your neighbors see you outside of your house talking on your cell phone and they say...yeah I got that same problem, got to come outside in the yard to use Verizon's service. I live in Valdosta, Georgia 31605 and there are so many complaints about this service.

Seems all we get is same repeat replies and no real help or answers from Verizon weeks now seen many report same issue with signal myself included

I have had the same exact issue. 10 years with Verizon- no issues. The past 4-5 weeks have been horrible.

I spent at least 6 hours chatting with 5 different Verizon representatives. My problem got escalated to level 2 twice. The Verizon reps. are very well trained to be nice, apologetic, cordial, warm and friendly.

after much time and effort, new SIM cards, a new phone, a useless wireless extender, constant extender, phone and network resets there was no improvement.

I am going today to switch to AT&T.

My theory is that Verizon has lost sight of the importance and criticality of delivering reliable service. I think they are so focused on 5G and other things that they “took their eye off the ball”.

been reported for some time now all I get and others is your scripted auto reply questions that fail to do anything no help or answers

as for private messages I got over same repeated scripts which is to " authenticate my account"

and one insulting reply I might add

I only pay you monthly ( years now)

my sign in is same for on my Verizon app ( on my phone)

think I did this " authentication" years ago when I did my account

calls get nothing but time wasted as well and hung up

your chat is nothing more than chat bots who repeat same thing ( includes one supervisor who did repeat for 5 hours)

you claim you want to help and or your concerned but yet nothing is ever done t assist

We live in Pa, zip 18067, and for about 2-3 months now my wife, son, and myself have been having dropped calls DAILY. They drop when we are at home, on the road... EVERY day, many days it happens multiple times. We also pay a lot and are getting very tired of having poor cell service. For this low quality service, we could just go to one of the cheaper cell companies and get the same. I am very disappointed in Verizon service.

Us too. We live in zip code 62479 and was told by our local Non-corporate Verizon store that they shut off 1x due to getting ready to upgrade to 5G. Mind you I think our town was the last one in the USA to get 4G a couple years back, so I'm not expecting 5G to make it to our tiny little spot on the map until 2025. 1x is what Verizon used for "phone calls" and with this shut off, we have really noticed a difference. WIll have 4 bars one minute and 1 bar the next. Many times will get the message no internet service when trying to refresh a news feed or Instagram etc. Call service is terrible. It reminds me of our 1990s bag phone. We even have a repeater on our house to improve that signal which is spotty at best within the house. Great job Verizon--you terrible!

I have the same problem in NOVA Zip code 22003! The other day I had to use my work phone which on AT&T as hotspot to access a code from Amazon. I used to be with T-Mobile and I never experienced any problem in this area. I thought Verizon would be better than T-Mobile or AT&T. I was wrong. I am thinking of going back to T-Mobile.

Low to no cell service at our home after 15+ years with Verizon. Constantly dropped calls. Horrible Verizon customer service: phone, Tech 2 service, Text Tech Coach, endless transfers to other departments, interminable on hold wait times, repeat over and over to get no solutions.

All the while Verizon tries to upsell you device protection on non cell phone devices. Every rep. Despite the reality that Verizon cannot even service their own cell phones.

We are done. Finito. Out.

Verizon is horrible. Go anywhere else for cellular. Anywhere else.

I have the same problem in Littleton, Colorado. It is making my work life impossible. I hope a solution is found soon
