Problems sending/receiving messages

Hello.  I have had a Samsung Galaxy S5 since late December.  The phone is great, and I like it in almost every way.  However, starting in late June and early July, I have had problems with sending and receiving SMS messages.  MMS messages work fine, when I am sending group chats or multimedia to both single or multiple people.

I only notice problems sending messages when I am sending them to a certain person.  But, I really only send SMS messages to that person and not to many others (we talk a lot and I don't really talk to others much unless it is a group chat).  So, I only notice problems when I am texting that person.

Usually, I receive all the messages that this other person sends, but my messages are often delayed for a few minutes and sometimes do not send at all.  I tried turning on read reports.  Sometimes I don't receive a read report for 10 or more minutes (so it's delayed) and sometimes I don't receive one at all, so it doesn't send or the other person doesn't receive it.  Once in awhile I get a read report, but the message doesn't actually send, so that makes me think it may be the other person's phone.

Like I said, I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 on Verizon. I have had it since December and I have only noticed problems since late June.  I am using Samsung Messages (I have Verizon Messages, but Samsung Messages seems easier.  If using Verizon Messages may solve the problem, I will be open to that)

The person I am having the messaging problems with has an iPhone 4, also on Verizon.  Being an older phone further makes me think that the problem is on that person's end.

If there is any other information needed I can provide it.

This is strange Birkemeier50. We want to make sure you are able to send and receive all SMS. What zip code are you in when you notice these issues? Have you tried sending yourself a SMS to see what happens? Is your software up to date? Go into settings> Applications> Application manager> All> clear data and cache from affected app.
