Touch screen issue

Has anyone had an issue with the touch screen locking up after using a damp (not wet) cloth to clean the screen? This has happened the last two time I cleaned the face. Typically it only last a few minutes. I have to put the phone in sleep mode then wake it up. It will allow more and more touch as time passes. Note: I have a clear (verizon brand) screen protector on the the screen as well. Hoping this is not the start of an issue as today was my 30th day.

Any input or thoughts would be appreciate..

i have not had that problem yet (knock on wood). however i would like to ask, why a damp cloth?

i usually breathe on my screen, creating condensation and then wiping it with a microfiber cloth.

i would point out that it is recommended that you not have a screen protector on because it will decrease the sensitivity of the touch screen, but i too have a screen protector (write fellows).

do you wipe the screen while it is on? i always make sure mine is off.

There was a post on another forum that talked about the eris having dust under the screen problem (cant remember where i saw it, probably droid forum). i hope you havent come across a 30 day thing where everything starts to break. lol

I had read somewhere to wipe the screen with a clean damp cloth for best results and to avoid using any cleaners i.e. windex, 409, etc.. I typically power off when cleaning. I will try the breath with microfibre and advise if I have the same issue. Thanks for the input.

I use one of the Verizon screen protectors also. No problems so far. Actually, I am on my third screen protector. LOL. I kept changing my mind about whether I wanted one on or not. I guess I finally decided to keep one on.

Anyway, I haven't noticed any difference in sensitivity with or without it. I will say the screen is a bit better without it, visually. It's not a tremendous difference, at least to me, so I'll keep it on for a while yet. When i didn't have one one, no scratches developed. Guess I just want to be safe since it's still new. Maybe in a couple monthes I'll go au naturalle.

As for cleaning, I just put it into sleep mode, and wipe with a kleenex, microfiber, or a pre-mostened glasses cleaner. The ones from Lenscrafters are great. If they are safe for plastic lenses, they sure won't hurt glass. (or a screen protector.)

I haven't noticed the screen lock-up problem you describe. Hopefully, it isn't a problem that will continue for you.

One thought....are you sure that it is tied to cleaning the screen. I mean, can you cause it to happen everytime just by cleaning the screen? It's not tied to something you always do just before cleaning the screen, like running a certain program or something?? That may be a reach, but it's something to consider anyway.

If you are using a screen protector, make sure that there are no air bubbles. This is because it can cause some disturbance from user-to-phone touch coordination with the phone. It'll just set it off incorrectly if there are airbubbles.

I don't have a screen protector, and I use a lightly damp cloth to clean my screen. No lockups here.

Have you noticed any scratches on your screen so far? How long have you been going without protection? (that just sounds funny)

I ask because I want to believe the protector isn't necessary, but I'm not convinced 100% yet.

Thanks for all the input \ info.. I will pay more attention to what I have been running before cleaning next time.

Supitsmike- I am interested in the scratching as well..
