switch no before its too late!!!
Yeah, they suck
You think Verizon sucks? Go try Sprint for a year or so, then come back and tell us how "bad" Verizon is.
There are indeed a great many aspects of VZW that I agree "suck"...unfortuantely I have heard that those same problems exist at most other major wireless providers. Not sure what you are looking for but from what I hear, the mythical "great" cell phone company does NOT exist. I currently also have a Sprint phone for work and the coverage is a disgrace in comparison to VZW, for that reason alone I will stick with them.
Let me tell you a story about VZW that may help change your mind. I had signal problems in my home. We were dropping virtually every incoming and outgoing call. VZW Customer Support told me the solution was a 'network extender' to amplify the signal. The extender costs $250. The rep I talked with was willing to discount that price by 50%. I told her I didn't think I should have to pay more for service I should be getting with what I was currently paying. The rep checked my account and saw how long I had been a VZW customer (since 1994). After checking with her supervisor, she said she would give me the extender at no charge. Wow, I thought this was great.
The story doesn't end there. After receiving the extender, we still dropped most calls. The extender wasn't working. I called Customer Support again. They checked my Internet upload and download speeds. My upload speed was half of what was required for the extender to work. No one had told me the extender required a certain upload speed to work. I called my ISP, Time Warner Cable/Road Runner, and was told it would cost $15 a month more to increase the upload speed to meet the extender requirement. So, again I called Customer Support. The person with whom I spoke told me that because I had been such a loyal VZW customer, she would check with her supervisor about paying the additional cost for a year. Believe it or not, the supervisor agreed. I was given a $150 credit on my VZW account to cover the first year of the increased cost. I was very pleasantly surprised.
Big Red is big, but not so big to show concern for us 'little' guys. I was ready to switch carriers, but sure won't now.
I, too, am a long time vzw customer. For 15 years I have been with them. I, too, have always been very pleased with customer service. They have always been pleasant and very helpful and caring and nice. NOW I know why, because I have always been the model customer, payed bill on time, etc. Yesterday I spent an hour on the phone talking to 3 different reps. After that one experience, I will be severing my relationship with verizon when my contract is up. They define "fairweather friends" I lost my teaching job of 13 years about a year and a half ago. I still paid on time until last October, when I lost my unemployment and was unable to pay all my bills that month. I also was late in returning a defective phone after getting my replacement in the mail. They charged the full price to my acct and said they would reverse the charge once they received the phone. THEN, they cut my service due to unpaid balance. I called to say phone was on its way so they reconnected me. That week they cut my service a total of 3 times and always reconnected me promptly after my explanation. Yesterday, I saw a "reconnect fee" charged to my account. They charged a $15 fee for those 3 reconnections on each of my 3 lines. This is almost $150!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Regardless of my excellent record with them, all the reps told me that due to my late payment in October, they will not reverse those charges. One rep even told me that they could, but won't. Therefore, I explained to them what a fairweather friend is and told them that this is the message I will be telling all that I come in contact with.
Big Red is big, and as long as you are the model customer without any hardships, they will be there for you. I will be switching carriers when my contract is up. I'm still seeking full time employment and will one day be back on my feet. I am so disgusted that as a long time client, I was treated like a leper.
Did you call finacial services when you couldn't pay your bill that month? Surely they would have worked something out or that's what I have heard. Do you think if you were with another company and didn't return the replacement phone on time they wouldn't bat an eye about it? I sure as heck bet they would and would do the same as verizon.
Ok so if there is problems getting cell singnal in someone's house then you hook a network extended up to your cable? We have time warner but we have no signal problems in our house with our verizon cells so don't need one but am just curious how it works. Sweet they gave you something thast costs $250 for free. Mary
I have always known that verizon was a rip off. if it wasn't because verizon was one of the only companies that own towers in the area i currently live, i wouldn't have changed from t-mobile. there plans are outrages for this economy & the service sucks. i have only been with them for 3 months & have been to there store 6 times due to i never have internet connect -which is the reason i changed company because i needed my gps- I kid you not i restart my phone at least 3 times a day. i decided to try changing phones but the CS told me i would have to purchase another phone. i spent 1200 in one day to activate & buy new phones & this lady is seriously telling me she can not help me with my useless phone, that i will have to buy another useless phone. OH & on top of that i will have to pay $350 to break my contract for each phone.... WTF Like Seriously?!?!?!?
You had a 14 day return period, you didn't notice this problem in that time?
Run, run as fast as you can when you can from this comapny. People have to learn they DON'T CARE!!!!!!!!!!!

By the post that you have been making in several threads, you must live under a bridge dont you? Troll in the house..
Drink all the kool-aid you want, this company is by far the worst in customer service I have ever seen.
I'm not saying that VZW is great, good or even ok but there are FAR worse companies out there...In my opinion, many people dont read enough of VZWs fine print and then complain about it after the fact. And then when they dont get the answer they want, they give up too easy.

Very good point..
I've actually had very good experineces with VZW. I've been with Tmobile and ATT in the past and their coverage is awful compared to verizon. The phones are always good and coverage is great. No company is perfect, I gurantee sprint, tmobile and ATT all ahve issues, just like verizon does. I'm not sure if you are just trying to start a hate post, or if you are just bored and have nothing else better to do, but trust me all companies have their problems.
OK, my Verizon Story. Back in 2005 I went from an employee to self-employed and used my cell as my work phone. I had no idea how many mintues I would need so upgraded to the next package up. That was good for two months. The third month I got a 400+ bill in the mail for overages. I called Verizon, explained the situation and was immedialty upgraded to the appropriate plan and my bill was changed to that price. The took off hundreds of dollars. The story does not end there. This package too was great for two months. The third month, you guess it, 400+ dollar phone bill and Verizon did the exact same thing for me again.
One time I was traveling and did not realize that turning on my phone for like 5 minutes a day could incure lots of data charges. When I returned home I received a 500 dollar bill. Verizon redid the bill as if I had purchased the extra data for out of the country travel and again reduced by bill.
I purchased the Galaxy Nexus in December on the day it dropped. Been nothing but trouble with calls since the day I got it. Went through two phones, two sim cards and some suggested fixes that all failed. This took some time and suddenly I was out of the 30 day window that was offered with this phone. I called Verizon last night to let them know that I was still having problmes with the phone and they offered me free of charge a different phone. I will have it tomorrow with free shipping, free 32 SD card to make up for covers that I had purchased and free return label for the Nexus.
I have more stories, but for now I think this is enough. Verizon has been great to me for years and I will never switch to anyone else.
The coverage is good, prices suck, customer service sometimes knows less than the user, and they are money hungry thats for sure. I hate most everything about them myself, but hey, NOBODY has the coverage as of now. In VA that is!
Because they are money hungry... They more money they the more they can do. Sometimes you have to go against the grain to gain...
That is so true Tidbits... Besides in this world you get nothing for free, no matter what you think.. It cost to live, then it cost to die and guess what you have to pay also in the all between , isnt the world lovely???
True True, just like GAS prices. Venezuela is .09 a gallon. Gas is cheaper than milk!
People don't ever consider future costs of a company. They only see how much right now... Verizon has Spent 19B a year on their network since 2003 to develop, market, and deploy their 4G network. Now look at the other carriers. They just started rolling out LTE and their 4G networks are just 3G firmware upgrades(aside from Sprint, but their Wimax is partly owned by Clear, and their LTE network is partly owned by Lightsquared). AT&T tried to buy T-Mobile to play catch up, and it failed. Now they are deploying LTE at a slower pace as they don't have the funding to do so. They were pulling a $20B loan just to try and acquire T-Mobile...
Yes, Verizon is an evil corporation run on greed and money
ah, NO. I did have Sprint for 2 years and they never ripped us off the way Verizon has. This is a horrible company. Shady, lying incompetent billing dept. Run, don’t walk away! Yea VERIZON terrible
