What happened to a Jellybean release for the Droid Incredible 4G LTE?

The sad little Droid Incredible 4G LTE seems to have dropped off the Jellybean bandwagon. Its siblings, the One S, One XL, and EVO 4G LTE all received Jellybean around April of this year. The hardware is entirely capable as evidenced by the unofficial AOSP ROMs available and the strikingly similar internals between this device and the others mentioned above. Verizon and HTC, can you throw us Inc4G users a bone? Maybe with some good treatment, we'll be inclined to stay with ya... ya know?

I would like an answer to this as well. This phone has a great combination of features for the price and totally has the hardware needed to run newer versions of Android. If I have to buy a new phone to get JellyBean it probably won't be a Verizon phone.I'm not under contract so I can switch carriers any time I want. C'mon Verizon!!

This has got to be the least helpful, most marketing-centric, response ever given by a VZW rep. Instead of being helpful, this just asks us to go spend more money on something this phone already can do but is being artificially limited for no technical reason.

Those two links are totally useless to me, as is your marketing-centric and unhelpful answer. If I wanted to spend tons of money on a new device I would have done that instead of looking around for the Inc. 4g LTE. I also do not want to get locked into a contract which requires me to either lock myself into a contract which I will NOT do, or pay full price for a phone which I cannot do. This phone's hardware is nearly identical to models which come with Jelly Bean so I see no reason not to make JellyBean available for my phone other than VZW wanting to rape my wallet.

Most of the newer models I've looked at are missing things I want in a phone. I have no interest in a phone with no external card slot for storage and most of those phones have pitifully small onboard storage. I also have no interest in a phone with no way to remove the battery, and any battery less than 2500 mAH is not acceptable. The one or two phones that have the features I want are huge both in physical size and price ($200 + with contract) which is way outside my budget.

This phone I have is not being subsidized, yet I still have to pay over $95/mo. with only 2GB of data just as if the price of my phone was being subsidized (which it is NOT). I was willing to pay the high monthly cost for superior coverage but at this point, seeing Verizon's tack of trying to push us into paying more money instead of making the proper improvements to keep me happy as a customer my choices are (1) install a custom ROM which will allow me to get JellyBean, or (2) switch to a carrier who is more interested in providing proper customer service as opposed to simply carrying on in the typical American corporate fashion of only thinking of profit.

You have to love the response from a Verizon Support specialist. Buy a phone that has jelly bean already on it! And what if someone isn't due for an upgrade? Should everyone go out and pay full price? Seriously? How about Verizon just resets everyone's upgrade status and allows them to Upgrade Now without going to that new crap service of paying full price for a phone and having to turn it in to upgrade in 6 months. Honestly, when will Verizon actually start to care about their customers?

And if you want my opinion, which obviously means very little. I believe it's a combination of HTC and Verizon dropping the ball. Go figure that 2 phones more than capable of handling Jelly Bean (HTC Rezound & Droid Incredible 4G) are still without. That is why I switched to Samsung. And even with them Verizon drags with releasing updates, European models have newest software well before we do. Really makes 1 consider going with a Nexus phone, or just dropping Verizon altogether.

I didn't mention it in my earlier posts, but the VZW response above is pretty much what I got from people at the Verizon stores I've visited. It seems these days the big profit-hungry American companies train their associates in marketing lingo before they get around to training for customer service.

I've worked in retail, so I know customer service reps have to try to get you to upgrade, but we never used the high-pressure tactics Verizon and a couple of the other US wireless carriers use. We knew that by taking care of the customer even if all they needed was a $2 accessory they would be much more likely to come back later when they were ready to make a major purchase than if we had tried to pressure them into that major purchase when they weren't ready.

It wasn't until after my wife and I started service with Verizon last year that we realized our phones would never be updated to more recent versions of Android regardless of whether the phone manufacturer had an update for the same hardware elsewhere. Our phones were basically unsupported the day we bought them. Bug fixes and improvements in software? Why on earth would a customer want those as part of their service contract when they can buy them for $600 with a new phone!

As others have mentioned, staying with Verizon when our contract is up is very much in question. Particularly since Nexus/Play Store Edition devices that actually receive updates don't work on the Verizon network. Not providing software updates devalues the hardware and the service. In the end it's a value proposition. What value is being delivered vs what I have to pay for it.

Welcome to the club. JK. Just recently i visited HTC's website. I also own the same phone. To make a long story short. HTC has a drop down menu for the phone or phones the customer is inquiring about. The droid inc 4g lte (ADR6410LVW) wasn't on the list. I was able to input the IMEI when i filled out the survey/questionnaire.

I received a call from an HTC rep. He wanted to know why i checked dissatisfied. I told him why. I also told him that this late in the game, i want HTC to push out the OTA update for KitKat (4.4) to the inc 4g. I also reminded him that 4.4 will fit any phone that has 512 or more MB of RAM.

It hasn't been upgraded because VZW wants you to upgrade and tie yourself to them for another 2 years. They don't care about the security of your device or function after the sale. Take a look at the Galaxy Nexus forum regrading an upgrade for a Nexus. It's over 300 posts with VZW saying the same thing they said here. They use cut and paste alot.

I found out that most if not all of those updates, 4.0, 4.1, etc, work a whole lot better with a phone that has a dual core processor and 1024 mb (1gb) of ram.

Of course 2gb or more of ram and a quad core processor is even better. But a dual core processor and 1gb of ram isn't something to sneeze at.

I checked the specs and they're similar. Maybe Motorola is stepping up it's game.

Maybe they're throwing just Atrix HD owners a bone, maybe...

I'm not surprised. HTC won't push out the update(s) and VZW won't ask HTC to push out those update(s).

By the way, the OP did get an answer. Buy a phone with the latest OS.

This, in combination with the recent slight of the Nexus 5 and overpriced service plans will most likely drive me to an unsubsidized phone for my next upgrade, and there's no guarantee I'll stick with a Verizon post-paid account. That will be in their hands. I can't believe I've had this phone over a year and not a single update. The only reason I purchased this edition was due to my experience with the original Incredible and I don't want a huge screen in a phone.

I know this comment will be ignored just like the rest, but I had a couple minutes to waste. Verizon really needs to get with the times and promote an open, shared world with ubiquitous coverage. Maybe if you stop investing in all the bloat you put on our phones, you could make more money selling access to your network?
