Why is my data usage so high?

Historically my wife and I carry over data, a couple times we went over the limit so I bumped us up to the next size plan, that seemed to be more than enough. Then we went over again, so I would purchase an extra gig here or there and eventually going up to another plan. What I don't understand is my wife's phone spends 99% of it's time connected to the home wifi. But yet this week it says she's used 6GB of data, mostly on social media, which she does not even use. She doesn't even have a social media account. This last time I paid our bill and I noticed it said we had 75% of our data left, two days later we were out of data. Why? We haven't done anything different, updates are set for over wifi only.

I got a private message on 4/21 and I responded on 4/21. What exactly are you waiting for? All I can do is repeat what I have already posted here and in private. 3 months of this... THREE. My bill I paid this morning was probably the highest I have ever paid for a Verizon bill, and my service is no where near the quality it should be for the price. So, what are you waiting for from me? VZW customer service can't even have the courtesy of having one person work an issue, it's a different person each time asking the same question or giving the same nondescript answers. If you were treated like this would you stay?

If you are on unlimited your bill can't be going way up every month, that does not make sense.  Our bill for 3 phones on  start unlimited fluctuates a little because of taxes but nothing drastic so very weird.

I could post a picture of my bill but obviously I don't want my info out there. But I get a discount through my work and my bill is still stupid high for two phone lines and one for the tablet.

Very weird it would be climbing like that every month being on unlimited.  Keep fighting to get someone to look into it and figure our why.  Compare the detailed billing each month to see where the increase is coming from.  Have never had mine increase more than a few cents because of taxes.  We have been on unlimited about 3yrs I think.

It's been two and a half months and so far the only solution has been me repeating my answers with the same questions being asked in private. And now me having to pay for unlimited service which I didn't want that seems to be even slower than what we had before. I'm paying over $250 a month for two lines of service, my phones are paid off, and I get a discount through my work... What exactly did Verizon resolve besides getting more money from me and a very unhappy customer?
