Since last update to my phone HTC 10. Every time data is roaming I get my default notification telling me data is roaming. How do I stop that notification. A couple of places I go I get and endless string of notifications, I have to silence my phone to stop it. It also happens on second HTC 10 phone on my account. I just want to stop the notification. PLEASE help

I finally figured it out. I have a Moto Z Force... Settings, display, advance, roaming banner.

I have Moto Z Force as well, and while it doesn't make noise, I cannot get the notification icon out of my banner no matter what I do. If I reboot, it is back within an hour. Banner display was already off. This glitch, Command Center widget gone, battery drain... more of the same from Verizon.

This notification has tortured me for days now, BUT I finally found how to stop this annoying notification on Moto Z2 Force (Android)

1. Pull down v&dr notification.

2. Hold finger on notification banner until menu displays.

3. Select More Settings link

4. Update Verizon Roaming Status notifications as you wish.

I chose NO SOUND OR VISUAL INTERRUPTION.

@BILBAL

I understand your concerns with receiving this data roaming notification on your HTC 10 device. I would love to assist.

Where exactly are you located when you receive this notification; city and zip code? Have you tried the steps suggested by @jav6? Please let me know what was your result?

Thanks to Azsunflower on clarification, I have Moto Z and tried the same thing, but originally it didn't let me edit anything about it's notification.

Essentially for most cases BILBAL, tap and hold the notification and go to more settings, then tap all over, set the sound to off, and then set the priority, all that jazz. I would personally recommend going to a Verizon store if that doesn't solve it though, and doing that would also let you know if you're being charged for roaming or not.

Don't know if still needed and applicable, but here a more detailed solution that worked for us. My mother-in-law's phone (also Verizon, but a Motorola) also drove us nuts with these notifications, the phone relentlessly telling her she was roaming whenever she connected to another carrier than Verizon (which does happen a lot when she visits us in Germany Smiley Wink).

Possible solutions were:

  • turn roaming off
Would leave her here (and anybody beyond the reach of "their" carrier) without contact to the outer world. No alternative for us.
  • set phone to flight mode
No calls, texts, etc. would come through, either. Rather pointless (unless you enjoy taking off the communicative shackle, which is nice every once in a while)
  • turn phone off
Effect the same as setting it to flight mode.
  • turn phone to "silent"
You still see what came in when you check your screen, but again, you won't hear calls coming in.
  • SOLVED our problem (on the Motorola, but I'm sure other brands work similar): turn off roaming notification (after finally finding it...)
    1. Go to "Settings"
    2. Tap "Apps & Notifications"
    3. Tap "Notifications"
    4. Tap "Notifications" (yes, again, it's a new point, on her phone with a bell next to it)
    5. Tap the three little dots at the top-right corner of the next screen
    6. Tap "Show system" in the little menu that drops down then
    7. Scroll way down to the entries called "Phone" (there are three of them on her phone)
    8. Tap the third "Phone" entry (on her phone, it has a generic android icon next to it, not a telephone handset)
    9. There you'll see "Verizon Roaming Status", but the switch will be grayed out (can't change it)
    10. Instead tap the words "Verizon Roaming Status"
    11. Tap "Importance"
    12. Set it to "Medium" (=no sound anymore, but you'll still see the icon, a triangle in her case, in the status bar indicating that you're roaming) or "Low" (=you won't be notified at all when you're roaming)...we chose "Medium" and enjoyed the ensuing silence.

Did the trick for us and restored sanity. Hope it helps!

Thank you so much for the help! It was driving me insane! I couldn't figure out how to get rid of the notification on the banner bar. This worked and I am so happy and grateful it did. Thank you! 🙂

So I spend enough time overseas that I use another simcard in my verizon phone, why buy two phones if I don't need them right? And last school year, using the Moto Zforce I had no problems, but now this damned roaming thing is up, EVEN though I don't have a damned verizon simcard in. This is ridiculous! It's just an annoyance and a battery drain. Useless bloatware garbage.
