I previously used Family Locator with our old plan and the kids' dumbphones. Now that we've upgraded phones and the plan, I don't see a locator with Family Base. Am I missing something?
Thanks.
Will Family Locator work with FamilyBase?
Yes, controlled lines on Family Locator can be located and will generate scheduled arrival and departure updates, except during restricted times set by the Account Owner or Account Manager within FamilyBase.
Note: Family Locator and FamilyBase are separate features. They must be set up independently of one another with monthly service fees that are billed separately.
Verizon Wireless - Family Locator
Seems to be a separate feature from Family Base.
$9.99 a month for 10 phones on the account.
Depending on whether or not you are using this for tracking of children, teens, or adults and the level of which you believe they may or may not remove such a feature from the phone, there are many apps in the Play store that offer tracking at cheaper rates to include free.
Have you looked into free options instead of paying Verizon's monthly fee for such a service?
I would suggest Family Locator - Android Apps on Google Play
There is also a version for iPhones.:smileyhappy:
IIf the kids have iphones, "find iDevices" (which is for android phones) works great with no monthly subscription. You can try the free version, which only allows one iphone.
All you need is their Apple ID and password to find them.
found my son at the lodge...
If using an android or even cross platform (android and iPhone) use Life 360. It is set up on both phones, and lets you know where the phone is and also lets you set fences so if the phone enters or leaves the fence it sends a message. Nice part is, it is free or the pro version is a one time fee of I think 14.99. I used to use Family Locator and had nothing but trouble with it being down or not recognizing the fence etc... Life 360 I have never had any issues with it in over 3 years.
Is the free version limited to one device, like Find iDevices Free? The paid version allows more Phones.
i Will check this out also. My kids have iPhones, I have android, multiple devices.
I have 4 phones on the free version of Life 360's Family Locator.
The free version can be installed on multiple devices. The paid version unlocks some of the advanced features.
I'm giving Family Tracker/Life360 a try. I like the user interface. I like the check in feature. Can't say how often my kids callme to find out when I'm coming home, or how often I worry about them when they are on the road.
it may replace my previous apps!
I Found one downside to this app. It requires GPS be on and is high battery user. My other apps only require Google location services be on and will report ink wifi locations if GPS is off. Find iDevices finds my sons phone every time.
Im still going to try it. I know my sons both turn GPS on when they are out at work.
thanks again Jakeman. (My older son is also Jake )
I understand making sure your kids are safe useless_username! Snn5 is correct to say that it is a separate feature that can be added to your account. Here are http://vz.to/1GZq2aK some FAQ about Family Locator. Keep us posted. AmberF_VZWFollow us on Twitter @VZWSupport
