Message expired or not available

I an notified by sound of a new text message, but receive nothing.  Immediately, the screen says "Message expired or not available."

That's a long time to deal with that. We want to get you back to having the service you need. How often is this happening? Do you know if anyone is trying to text you at that time?

I have the same problem receiving MMS or group text messages. If either says "Message expired or not available" or "Unsupported file" and has been happening for about 3 months. And it doesn't matter who sends me the text, it could be an iPhone user or Android user; a Verizon user or another carrier.

I am having the same issue for a couple/few months myself.  Think it is MOSTLY in group texts... But I think it happens in one-on-one texts every once in awhile, too.  Tough to say, but it's extremely annoying.  I am on VZ Prepaid w/ Android 9, using Google Messages.

This is definitely concerning, we know how important it is to get your messages and want to make sure this is properly resolved. What messaging application are you using? When did this problem start?

I am having the same issue, I can say on my Razer phone 2 it is only the group messages that are being affected, and it is not all of them. If I had to say, I'm missing about 1 in 15-25 messages this way (again only in group messages). I am using the default messaging app for the phone. This issue started around the middle of August. At first it wasn't a big issue but it has started happening more frequently lately.

I am having this issue, too. Google Messenger on unlocked Razr 5G. It happens daily, most notably on group texts. Big issue.

I get "Message expired or not available" on many messages. It happens randomly, and I've talked to tier 1 and 2 verizon tech support for this and they can't seem to figure it out.

It happens in the standard Android Message app, the latest version from the Google store. Textra works fine, but does not support RCS, so I can't use it. The google app is the only one that does RCS well, but since I've been on verizon I've had this issue. So either verizons implimentation of RCS is not great, or something else is going on.

I have had this issue for months and months. The Google message has the issue. But textra can't do group messages so you are forced to use google messages. Uninstalling and reinstalling do not work

Firebelly, I want to be sure that you're receiving the best options for your messaging situation. Are you able to receive messages when using the messaging application that came preinstalled on your phone? Or only with these texting within these specific applications?
