Prepaid with my own phone - possible?

Hi All, searched the site but can't find an answer.

Was given an unlocked Moto G for christmas, now need to find a carrier. Local area has Verizon network and two others.

Is it possible to get a prepaid plan where I buy the SIM or what?

How can I get to use the Moto G with Verizon and -- no -- I do not want to buy their 99-buck one here. :smileyhappy:

The "unlocked" Moto G sounds like a GSM model. This won't be compatible with the Verizon Wireless network. You can activate it on one of the local GSM carriers (AT&T, T-Mobile, etc.).

Yep by golly I believe you are correct. It does mention at the site it is coming to Verizon Wireless?

Coming? The prepaid 3G only Moto G model for Verizon Wireless is available NOW. It must be used on a prepaid plan for six months before it can be activated on a postpaid account.

Yep I went back and looked. when I read GSM and then Verizon I looked at it as coming to Verizon. It does state its available on Verizon for $99

And the words out of Stock at that website.

Sooo, I take it that I do not need a SIM card at all, just use the "Activate it" link for the prepaid?

As a newbie to smartphones I thought they need a SIM card to operate.

May give it a try and report back on success or failure, although given the very poor Customer Service by Verizon this afternoon, I will look for an alternate carrier first rather than support such poor CS.

6-years back when I bought my first Verizon phone, their CS was amazingly good. First time back to use CS in 5-years and they are abysmal. Sad to see.
