Digital Secure Help needed!

I have had Digital Secure, the basic version, as does my son's phone both on my account, for a while. Suddenly the notifications stopped coming to my phone (the ones that say 24/7 threat protection is on in the upper tray). It still works on my son's phone.

So, I was trying to figure out what is going on, and found some info indicating that Verizon Protect is the new version, coming soon?  But, that says the first month is free, and then I will need to pay?  Does that apply to the basic version too? Does this mean Verizon is no longer offering protection at a basic version for free? Also, how do I turn it off if I do not want to pay?

This is very confusing, and sometimes I think it is made confusing on purpose!

Thanks for any help - I do not want to sit on the chat queue for 20 minutes!

Thank you for reaching out about your options with Digitial Secure, lets dive deeper into what you have and what may be impacting changes. Have there been any recent plan or device changes? When you go into your notification settings on your phone is Digital Secure still in the on position?  https://www.verizon.com/solutions-and-services/add-ons/protection-and-security/digital-secure/

Hi! So, no plan or device changes, but I noticed that my next bill is $1 more, and it says due to plan changes - but I was assuming that it was just due to tax or fee increases. But, I have not authorized any changes to our plan.

I apologize for my lack of knowledge, but I have been searching my phone all afternoon looking for notification settings while trying to figure out what is going on, but have not found it. I looked in settings, and nothing is there. I have a Samsung S9.

scififan1, thank you for the details. If you don't want to pay for the Digital Secure, you can remove it from your account using the steps in this link here:  https://www.verizon.com/support/knowledge-base-304582/

Hi! Ok, so there is no longer a free option, is that correct?

Thanks!
