Having a very strange problem after switching to Verizon from T-Mobile. Problem only with my phone sending any text to or receiving any text from my daughter.
We both received new phones and sims when we moved over to Verizon, my daughter was issued a new SIM card with temporary number due to her phone had to be mailed to her later, then change back to the original phone number.
The temporary number also shows when my daughter calls me.
Ive been to my local Verizon store and call customer service both was no help. I know it’s something that is occurring in the background of things but I don’t know what .
Help! Any other ideas are greatly appreciated!

If your daughter has not received her phone yet and is using a placeholder number in the meantime, it's probably that the placeholder number doesn't have all the features enabled. Android phones use RCS format for texting by default unless the user manually disables it, and iPhones use iMessage format with RCS or SMS as an alternative, but it depends on how the phone settings are configured. Wouldn't be surprised if the temporary number only has very basic SMS capability and not even MMS since it's not expected to be used long-term.
I'm not a Verizon employee, just another customer trying to help.

Thank you for reaching out for support with the number displayed for your daughters phone. Let's dive into this further. What phone does she have? Has the phone been restarted since the port was completed?

She has her IPhone 16 Pro max. Yes, her phone has been restarted several times. I’m the only person who she contacts that sees the temporary number when she calls or text me.

Thanks for that info. To make sure we're on the same page, your daughter received a temporary number as her phone was being shipped to her. But since then, she was able to port her number to Verizon, is that right? If so, when checking her phone in Settings>Cellular what does it show for My Number? Do you have an iPhone as well? If so, in Settings>Apps>Messages what number is next to Send & Receive just under the iMessage switch?

Correct. She went to our local Verizon and they did the process . It shows her actual number and not the temporary. Yes, I have an IPhone as well.
