Issues with redeeming Verizon Prepaid iPhone 14 Plus promotion (May 31 2025)

TL;DR: I can't redeem the prepaid iPhone 14 plus promotion. Verizon agents have told me that they can't complete this order for me, the customer has to do it themselves. Wondering if anyone else has successfully redeemed this offer or is also having the same issues as me. Please help me, Verizon Support.

 

Verizon currently has a Prepaid iPhone 14 Plus promotion that runs till 6/30/25. If you click on the "Shop Now" button at https://www.verizon.com/prepaid/ , you can get a iPhone 14 plus for $249.99 (256GB) or $299.99 (512GB) with either the Prepaid Unlimited ($60/mo) or Prepaid Unlimited Plus ($70/mo) plan. I get a message: "At this time, Verizon is not able to complete your transaction with your current payment method" after trying to checkout. My card got charged but it got instantly refunded. Then, the error message shows. Below is the image of the error message.

I have tried getting Verizon agents to complete the order for me, but they are unable to. They told me that only the customer can make this transaction. I really want this deal. I'm wondering if anyone else has successfully got this offer or is also having issues like me. Please help me, Verizon Support.

I'd check your account and see what payment method it is trying to use.  Maybe the system doesn't like a debit card, or if you have a prepaid refill card as the payment method, that's only good for paying your phone bill.  Or if you recently got a new credit card, the expiration date and CVV numbers need to be updated because Verizon's system doesn't keep up with such changes.

[update] I checked that link, and the promotion appears for me too.  But the fine print says "new line", which makes me think it's for new customers only?  If you're an existing customer, wouldn't qualify, unless maybe you want to let your current prepaid line expire, and then get a new phone number after your current plan has expired?

Didn't realize prepaid customers are getting promotions...I just posted a little while ago in another thread that only postpaid customers get any deals.  I'm sorry for the mistake, Verizon. [red-faced]  It's nice to see we prepaid customers are getting some offers now too, but all the promos I saw seem like they're for new customers only?

I am a new Verizon mobile customer, never had any Verizon mobile plans and I still don't have any. Verizon also ran this promotion last month up till 5/20/2025. I also encountered the same exact error last promotion period when I tried checking out by myself. I tried opening a new line with this promotion last month with the help of Verizon's agents, but they all told me that the iPhone 14 Plus was out of stock. This error also happens if I try checking out with a different color and/or memory size iPhone 14 Plus.

Hm. If the inventory was all gone even last month, I'm surprised Verizon hasn't pulled the promotion.  The fine print says "[...] or while supplies last".  At least your card was immediately refunded, but that's still pretty annoying.  Just checked at Apple's website, and they don't sell the iPhone 14 directly any longer, which has me thinking there is no more new inventory.  I don't know about taking the chances of finding a new phone at a 3rd party site; there's no telling what you'd get.

Is your current phone unlocked?  If so, you can bring it to Verizon, unless it's some exotic rare brand which isn't supported.  With Apple planning to launch the iPhone 17 in a few more months, I'd have to think the iPhone 15 generation will be offered up at a discount in the near future.
