If you are getting a message saying something like "You'll get the full Account Owner experience when your device is activated" or similar, then what happened is you got a guest account instead of a real one. This happens if you sign up on My Verizon before your service is up and running and the system hasn't registered you as a customer yet. Try creating a new My Verizon account by signing up with your phone number as if you'd never done it before.
