Unrequested authorization codes being sent to an account manager's number.?

Hi. My son is receiving authorization codes from Verizon. No member on our account is trying to do anything at all especially anything that could generate this. They are totally not initiated on our end. Example of texts received:  "Verizon msg: Your authorization code is (6 digits). For the security of your account, Verizon will never contact you for this code." How can I stop this? These appear to be legitimate.? Thanks for your help.

We're sorry to hear that you're getting those codes. We recommend changing your My Verizon password for all accounts to be on the safe side. You can do so by using this link: https://www.verizon.com/support/knowledge-base-17384/

bryantim We definitely want your account to be secure. Have you gotten any other messages regarding any changes to the account? Have you changed your password as a precaution?  ~Peter

Hi Peter. Yes to both questions. My 5 lines (including mine) have not received any since that I know of. We did get one prior on the same line. Thanks. bryantlm

Thank you for those additional details. Can you tell me who registered the online account?

Thank you for the information. Just to be sure we understand, after the passwords were changed, there haven't been any more instances of those texts?

Same thing happening to me, this is the second one today. Suggestions?

If you didn't initiate something requiring an authorization code, then the texts are smishing and should be deleted.  Would suggest changing your password for your account too.

I just got the same message, and it’s associated with a number Verizon has used for verification purposes in the past!

I maintain that someone is trying to access your account or sign up for something elsewhere which is tied to your Verizon account.  Would change all your passwords and turn on 2FA for any online stuff you have.
