I purchased an unlocked note 20 and after setting everything up my call filter doesn't want to work. When I go into the app it tells me to subscribe and when I press the button it says "Can't connect to the server".
I tried reinstalling the app and reset my phone. Every other verizon app works except call filter. It says it's on when I go into my account on the web site but why is the app not connecting. I tried on both WiFi and mobile data

We can certainly assist you with your Call Filter feature. To clarify, when you say an unlocked Note20, you mean it's not a Verizon branded device correct?

Thank you for clarifying that piece of information for me. Some Verizon features aren't going to work or may not be available for non-Verizon devices. - Carter

You're welcome. Although you may not be eligible to use Call Filter app, you may still qualify for Call Filter Spam Block as shown under item 6: https://www.verizon.com/support/call-filter-faqs/#general Let us know if this helps.

cyberoxide, the Call Filter app is important to stop unwanted calls. We will work toward a resolution. It was mentioned the phone was purchased through Verizon, so you should have access to the Verizon branded apps.
Please ensure that data is enabled for the app as shown on the following web page https://www.verizon.com/support/knowledge-base-235218/. Then reset the app as shown on the following web page https://www.verizon.com/support/knowledge-base-235171/. Then does the app work?

Verizon must have a bunch of morons working on this issue because they never figured this dirt out for me on my Verizon purchased Note 20 Ultra. These blockheads told me the best they could do was have me contact the call filter app developer. Whatever you fudging blockheads.

Thank you for sharing your details on the situation, MOUNTAINCRUISER. We understand the phones are new, so does the same thing occur with your previous devices or any others nearby right now?

I too have the S21 Ultra bought directly from Samsung and the Live Chat representative tried for hours to help me with the Call Filter Plus activation. Its basically the fact that we buy a non Verizon phone, with the missing bloatware, that prevents us from using the "Plus" feature of the app. I would gladly pay the 2.99 month for the app to work on my new phone. Such a shame that Verizon cant figure out how to add the missing code to the existing app to make it work with unlocked phones.

We want to make sure you are able to take advantage of this great service. Could you tell us what software you currently have on your device? Is the app up to date?

Verizon - please explain the difference between "Verizon device" and "unlocked device" that some features or Verizon apps won't work on them? What does Verizon do to the phones that makes the phone different from an unlocked one?
I am having the SAME problem with Call Filter PLUS. 2.99 a month for the add on and when I try to "subscribe" in the app it says it cannot connect to the server. Been on the phone with tech support since April 17, 2021 20 different times and when I finally found this conversation - it's the first time I've heard "unlocked phones" certain features are blocked.

I would be happy to explain. With the internal programming of Verizon Wireless devices, they are programmed to work specifically with our applications, features, and services. This would be the same with other branded devices and services. When an unlocked device is used the internal programming is not the exact same although the device can be used on the network. With some specialized applications or services, there are small differences in the programming which can make a large difference. This wouldn't necessarily be specific to Verizon Wireless but anytime an unlocked device is used on a different wireless carrier than it was originally branded with. Does this help to explain? Thanks, Chris.
What we'd like to see is a programming fix.
We pay a lot of money each year to VZW and consider this a very important priority.
If the phone works on the Verizon network, regardless if we purchased through Samsung or Verizon, the increasingly necessary Call Filter Plus is a must.
Give us feedback from you team as to the probability and timing of a fix.
Thanks.
