How to set up Visual Voicemail

I have the Visual Voicemail app on my phone. When people call and I don't answer, they get a message that says something like, "The person you are trying to reach does not have voicemail set up." So, I need guidance how to set it up.
There's a YouTube video, but it moves so fast and uses pronunciation that I don't understand.

I only use the plain *86 voicemails and not Visual Voicemail because my phone is unlocked and won't run the Verizon Visual Voicemail app. So I'm not sure if you need to configure your *86 voicemail first before the visual voicemail app will work with it?
If you never set up any voicemail at all in your Verizon account, you need to get a PIN to access the *86 voicemails.

I had difficulty following the instructions., the terminology isn't in my vocabulary. So I went to the local Verizon store, and a technician set up Visual Voicemail.
