I have a Samsung and my kids have apple phones. All three of us are having issues with sms, mms, and group texts. Not with just texting one another but with anyone or everyone. Most of my group texts or mms either won't go through at all or sometimes goes through hours later. My daughter can not receive any mms from me, no longer can text a few of her friends, and can't participate in any group chats. My son has many of these issues as well. I've done everything you can do with settings in each of our phones, you name it, I've tried it. I even saw on here to go into each line and go onto blocks and toggle that off then back on. Still nothing. I can only assume it's a Verizon issue?? It's been an issue for a month or so. How do I get this resolved? Do I need to just switch carriers at this point? Is this a known issue?

Hello, gt529, I'm sorry to hear you and your family members are running into issues with messaging. You mentioned this has been going on for about a month. Do you recall any changes just before this started happening? What messaging app are you and you children using? You mentioned your daughter cannot text a few of her friends as well. Is she unable to send text messages or are you referencing MMS?

There were no changes at all. I use the standard messaging app that came on my Samsung and my kids use iMessage through their phone numbers. All three of us have issues with texts and mms failing to go through.

Thanks for that information. I understand yoru son and daughter are using iMessage on their iPhones and they are having an issue with messages going through. When this is happening, are their phones trying to send an iMessage or is this happening with regular text messages to non-iPhone users? You mentioned your daughter cannot receive MMS from you. In Settings>Messages does she have MMS messaging and Send as SMS turned on?

As I stated earlier, all three of us ate having these issues. We have checked and rechecked all settings on our phones. We've toggled things on and off. We've reset network settings. Anything you can think of, we've done multiple times over this last month. For me, both texts and mms go through maybe half the time. Or, will take hours to send sometimes. My daughter received a group text last night that had been sent to her 5 days ago. She can't see all the messages in the chat and can't respond to anything. I seem to be able to send my son mms message most times, but not always, but I cannot send my daughter any mms any more. Their phones settings are set up exactly the same. My son also cannot receive or send texts or mms to all his contacts. The issue started suddenly around a month or so ago. None of us have new phones. My plan hasn't changed. It's frustrating because I'm paying a lot of money for services that either aren't working or working sporadically for us.

@vzw_customer_support, although you say there are no alerts - I'm guessing you mean outages? - texts not going through for numerous devices implies there is an issue with a tower(s) not communicating properly with the SMSC part of the network. That doesn't mean there is a complete service outage, but something seems off?
@gt529, is your data speed habitually slow in your area? MMS uses data service and I think group texting may also. If your cellular data speeds are crawling most of the time...as in you have trouble even getting a webpage to load without being on Wi-Fi, maybe that's why the MMS, etc. isn't working either.
If anyone's curious as to how texting actually works, here's a link that explains it in serious detail. Who knew sending even SMS is that complicated? Or how carriers have to implement technology to be compatible with something dating back to the 2G days?

We are in zip code 61115.
I stated what messaging apps we use in previous responses.
And there's no memory issues on any of our devices. All of us have plenty of memory on our devices. I myself have over half the memory left.
