Shouldn't be an issue if you're already a Verizon customer and simply swapping out an older phone with a new one.
If the number in question is currently with a different carrier, you'll have to have the number ported in with Verizon on the new phone to keep the number. The vast majority of times, this isn't a problem either, but in some very rare instances, a number can't be ported.
