Message from 899000

I keep getting these messages from 899000 asking me to verify my Verizon Business Account.  I was afraid to block the number because I thought at first that maybe Verizon was trying to get a hold of me. Then  & after I looked up that the 8999000 was I realized that got a hold of my Verizon Business account.

I tried calling Verizon but nothing was asked of me to verify my account. This has been happening too too many times. I've been a Verizon customer for many years with no problems.

Has anyone else has this problem?

I just received a message from the same number about changes made to my account. However, I made 0 changes. Tried calling that number they provided but it was 100% completely useless. Not sure whatโ€™s happening but itโ€™s annoying

This short code is a legitimate Verizon short code, but I suspect a sc*mmer has been spoofing it lately because I'm pretty sure I saw another thread recently asking about something coming from this code and it sounded fishy.  You can always login to your account and see if something's amiss.  If nothing has changed, ignore the texts as that's smishing.

@vzw_customer_support, thanks for the reply.  I am not getting any suspicious texts, but what is the best place for someone to report potentially fraudulent use of Verizon short codes?  If someone is getting something which could be smishing, seems like your IT or fraud department would want to take a look at the actual text and try to determine where it is actually coming from so the crook(s) don't keep using it.

I just got one with an authorization code I didn't request and came straight here. Hate stuff like this. ๐Ÿ™„

TheAyla, we're sorry to read that you received an authorization code that you did not request. We know the security of your account is of paramount importance, and we'd love to help. The good news is that you can report any potential spam messages by following the steps outlined here (see Report Spam to 7726): https://www.verizon.com/support/knowledge-base-301493/ We would also recommend not clicking on any links, or providing any personal information to unrecognized numbers. We hope this helps.

I have been getting through same messages for months now and it is making me crazy, but I didn't want to block the number because I wasn't sure if it was a legit number. So frustrating!!!
