Notice regarding group texts as multimedia messages

Every time I open a group text a grey box appears over my latest message which reads "Group conversations will be sent as multimedia messages"  It's covering up my actual messages and it does it every single time I open that chat.  Is there a way to turn that off?

We want to clarify all your concerns. When you receive this notification, are you still able to key and send the messages? Are the contacts able to receive the messages? ~Geo

I've been having the same issue. I can still send and receive messages, but it's a pain that every time I open a group chat, that message pops up. It only stays for a few seconds, but it's time that I could be reading the message and preparing a reply. How do I get rid of it?

y_ac, thank you for the details. Have you tried using the Google Messages app instead of the Samsung app? It looks like the issue might be with the Samsung app itself. Please give it a try and let us know if this helps.

I have this same problem. I do not like Google Messages. I want to use the same app I have used since inception of the Galaxy phone. This notification is an overlay every time the group message is opened. You have to wait for the notification to disappear before you can read the incoming message. It is INCREDIBLY RIDICULOUS!!!

What messaging app are you using?

The Samsung messages one. From what I read on other threads, it seems this is a common issue, but I couldn't find a solution. Hopefully there's one.

I looked elsewhere on the internet but couldn't find anything on being able to suppress the MMS notification message.  It's been a while since I used the native Samsung Messages app because Google Messages comes preinstalled on newer Samsung phones now and when I logged into my Google account on my current phone, it defaulted my texting app to Google Messages, which doesn't show that notification for group texts.  So the only things I can suggest are to either tap whatever "close" button the notification message has, or switch to Google Messages.  A Reddit thread says the Samsung messaging app may not be getting supported any more - it was a year old thread there, but sounds like Samsung is subtly trying to get users to go over to Google Messages.
