Phone not ringing, missed calls

I keep missing some calls because my phone does not ring (ringtone does not sound). Sometimes it rings, sometimes not. I missed a very important callback today and I don't feel like waiting 45 minutes on hold to contact the caller.
I use WiFi calling because I am in an area with mediocre network coverage. I thought of turning off WiFi calling but other users complaining of the same problem don't use it, so I don't think that's the issue. Plus if I turn it off then my reception is even worse.
One suggestion is to reboot my phone. The last time I missed a call I did that, and then my phone did ring afterward, but I have no idea if this was a solution or a coincidence. Anyway, I am missing calls and rebooting my phone every few hours in the hope that I will stop missing calls is not a real solution.
A couple of years ago this happened on another phone (Samsung Galaxy S20) and the agent suggested I reset network settings. This only helped temporarily and then the problem returned. Not to mention the nuisance of having to go in and re-enter all my network settings.
I'm currently using a Samsung Galaxy A23.

Hello, Doonser, we know how important it is for you to receive all of your calls. You mentioned you are in an area that doesn't have the best coverage. Are you only experiencing an issue with calls at this particular location? Is this only happening when using WiFi Calling?

This has only started happening in the past couple of weeks, and I don't get many phone calls so it's hard to pinpoint. But I do know in the last two weeks my phone sometimes has not rung when I am home and I've missed calls, and at home I'm always on WiFi calling. Sometimes it does ring. I can't detect a pattern.
As to SynthpopAddict's comment, although my cell reception is not very good in this location, Verizon is the strongest carrier around, so it wouldn't help to switch carriers. Besides, as I first said, at home I'm on WiFi Calling, so I'm not sure his comment applies in this situation.
I do get text notifications just fine.
I use Do Not Disturb at night (10 pm - 6 am) but this issue is happening during the day.

If you have very poor signal strength, I think your phone is failing to connect to cellular service at times or is unable to "refresh" itself as often as it should because it's struggling to get signal. Your best bet is to switch carriers for better service.
I'm not a Verizon employee, just another customer trying to help.

Thanks so much for the information, Doonser. Do you end up receiving a missed call notification when the phone doesn't ring and you miss a call? Is your device software fully up to date? Also, does this seem to be affecting multiple callers or just one?

Yes, I receive missed call notifications. In the case of the important call I missed today, I received a voicemail. Unfortunately, it was from a recorded message asking me to press keys to move through a chain of commands which I could not do because it was only a voicemail.

I tried to reply to your private message but I kept getting this error:
"Correct the highlighted errors and try again.
- Your post has been changed because invalid HTML was found in the message body. The invalid HTML has been removed. Please review the message and send the message when you are satisfied."
The html wasn't removed. Links still showed from your message. I deleted them and it still would not send.
But your message wasn't anything private. You asked if my phone was up to date. Yes it is. You also asked some other questions I already answered in the thread above.
PS it's super hard to write this on my phone. The message area is tiny and my keyboard hides half of it. So frustrating.

Thanks for getting back to us, Doonser. If you are running into any issues on this platform, please Contact Us: https://www.verizon.com/support/contact-us/ so we can further assist with your concern. With regard to your call issue, does this happen when you are at any other location other than home? You mentioned this has started recently. Do you recall any changes just before this started? When is the last time your phone was powered off?

I don't know if it happens only at home or when out and about using the cellular network. It happens intermittently and I haven't kept track. Plus when I'm away from home I don't always hear my phone anyway if it's in my bag or I have it on silent if I'm in a meeting or a movie or something. But I will say that the times I have noticed it happening is when I'm at home, yes.
After the previous time it did not ring I restarted the phone. That was a week ago. Then the day before yesterday it happened again, which is when I reported it hear. Since then I have heard it ring for the three calls I received (including spam or no caller on the other end). As I said it's intermittent so I'm not assuming the problem is solved. I never know when it's going to happen.
There was an Android update about a week ago, although my software info page shows a Google Play system update Jan 1 and an Android security patch also on Jan 1. But I know there was an update since then. Not sure why it's not listed.

Thank you for those additional details. Have you recently installed any bluetooth devices or use any bluetooth devices? To make sure I'm aligned, if it doesn't ring, it's going directly to voicemail?

I do use bluetooth devices, but bluetooth was off on my phone when this last incident occurred. I checked.

Doonser, thank you very much for the details. How often do you notice this happening? For example, if you ask someone to call you, will it always not ring or is it random?
~Jesse
