Background:
Yesterday, I completed an upgrade/trade-in at my local Verizon store. Today, it occurred to me that I left my old sim card in my old phone that I traded in.
My question, is what is Verizon's policy/procedure as far as what they do with sim cards found in traded-in phones?
However, I understand some personal data may remain stored on the sim (contacts, text messages, etc), and I was wondering whether Verizon takes steps to securely destroy/shred these old sim cards while processing, refurbishing, or recycling traded devices?
To be clear:
- I understand that it is deactivated/replaced by the new sim in my new device. That is not a concern.
- I also understand that it is best practice to remove said sim card for security reasons, but, I have been under a lot of stress, and made a mistake.
- I am not concerned about my losing any data stored on it, I just don't want anyone else to obtain any data from it.
Any insight on this anyone can provide would be appreciated.
