All of a sudden the photos I receive via text are blurry on my S21. The word on Reddit is it's a Verizon issue. Perhaps a Verizon/Samsung issue. It's happening across Android devices - regardless of age - on old and new phones, fancy and less fancy. What can we do?

Verizon opened up a ticket with Engineering yesterday for me and they contacted me a short while ago and this seems to be working now. ๐ Test it with your friends. It worked with mine. ๐

Had this prob for a couple weeks. Finally i went in all my multymedia text messages and saved pics i wanted and deleted all the messages. I think all the giffs, memes and photos overload memory. You just need to open up space for new stuff. I have an android a50 and am getting clear pics afrer doing this.

Go and delete multimedia messages that have long chains of giffs memes and pics. Clean it out and it will make room for clear pics again. Just save favorite pics in messages to your gallery first.

I am using S21. The regular Messaging app that comes on the phone; it doesn't have a name. The issue started at the end of May 2024 like many others. It happens randomly. Videos or multiple pictures. So far if it's just one picture it works. Once a friend resemt the picture and it was fine. I have not made any changes to my phone except for the phone updates.
Instead of keep asking us questions, can we get some type of resolution?

ReneeRenee, we're terribly sorry for the issues you're encountering with your messages. It seems that this issue started when the update was launched. Have you tried to contact Samsung to see if they have any information on a workaround?

This is not a Samsung issue. Again, this issue is non-device specific. I have a OnePlus phone and two Samsung phones and ALL of the phones experience this issue. This is a Verizon issue. If I put in a SIM card from T-Mobile the issue goes away. ๐
Do you have a Verizon phone yourself? Please try to replicate this and you surely will be able to. Have someone send you 5 pictures on 1 text and they will be blurry.

I think I just lost my sanity with this ridiculous run around and copy+pasted responses from Verizon Support. These customers literally played your games of all of the phone info and then received no response.
Verizon cloud says none of my photo album has been backed up which I just did May 21st (which those I can see). I decided to try backing it up even though the full photo album number says nothing is and then nothing shows up in the cloud as proof it is uploaded. I checked my account and confirmed I do still have the perk. ??? Has anyone else had this problem that they were able to fix?
Also my phone service has been exponentially worse and extra spotty. As are my co-workers. And it is supposed to be a town that HAS 5G. One of my co-workers tried to call me and the call wouldnโt go through - then when I tried to call her, it only said the call cannot be completed as dialed. Sheโs in my contacts and Iโve called her multiple times previously so this is ridiculous. It really makes me feel safe that if something ever happened I doubt I could even reach anyone.
Isnโt it funny though how more taxes get added on now PLUS the raise in prices to begin with? Having these issues really make me love paying $130/month for something that does next to nothing ๐ All this talk about possible 10G in โsome locationsโ with Xfinity internet and stuff makes me laugh even harder since 5G has already been no better since the start and still isnโt..
TBH though - I could go buy two foam cups and a reaalllllyy long string and it would be as bad as the service everyone and I put up with. But $115+ cheaper at LEAST. Given the prices of anything these days, Iโm chalking it up to these cheap items might cost $15 somehow somewhere :,)

@vzw_customer_support
I am also experiencing this issue.
Samsung S21 FE SM-G990U
Phone and google messages app is up to date.
-RCS is enabled.
-Send photos faster is disabled.
Photos I send out to non-Verizon numbers are clear on those devices.
Photos I receive from iPhones or Android devices are blurry on my device.

This is unacceptable, it has been working fine for months and all of a sudden it stops working and we as customers have to jump through hoops?
VZW, what is the solution of this? I am an Android user and probably will be for life. This should not be happening, I have another carrier for work also using Android and it does not happen with that carrier. Why is it happening with VZW? It was working fine until a couple of months ago.

It is not an APP issue. If it was it would not have been working for years.

Thanks so much for this info as you deserve to receive perfect pictures! Please keep in mind, since the Textra application is not something we (Verizon) directly offers, we are limited with troubleshooting for this application. It would be best to contact the application directly for further assistance. What do you experience with your text messages when you use the texting application that comes with the phone? What is the make/model of your phone?
