Samsung Tab5SE Udate

Samsung Tab 5Se.

Verizon, Samsung or Google (I think it was Samsung) installed an update last night. Now when I try to use the tablet, it is asking for a password, and there is no option to use a pattern or fingerprint. This device has never been able to use a password--only a pattern and fingerprints--and it has always required a pattern after an update or a restart, not a fingerprint (or password). I use a password manager on all my devices, and keep all versions/devices synced, so if it had ever had a password, I'd have a record of it.

To make things worse, even if it did have a password, after the update the keyboard layout has changed, and it requires moving through 3-4 different screens to access the various symbols in the password, but, the password field times out and resets after about 3 seconds of inactivity--faster than I can navigate screens and find the symbols--so trying my Google and Verizon Wireless passwords iss not possible, unless I change them to a very simple (temporary) password.

We want you to have access to your Samsung Tab 5SE. Verizon isn't able to help you access your device since we do not keep track of your device passwords. If you don't know what the password is after the software update, the best way to access the tablet again is to perform a factory data reset and set up the tablet as a new device. You'll need to have access to the Google account you used to set up the tablet to access it again after the reset. You can perform a factory data reset using the steps outlined here: https://www.verizon.com/support/knowledge-base-226706/
