Sending photos in text messages only working with Message +

I upgraded to S23 Ultra a few months ago. Recently I've been having a problem when trying to send a photo through text message. I am using Google Messages because I like the RCS Message features.
When I insert a photo and send the text message I see "sending" that goes on and on forever and never sends the photo. I end up selecting "stop sending & delete". I have reduced size of photo to minimum to no avail.

I switched to Samsung Messages and the same thing happens.

Today I tried Verizon Message+ and the message sent immediately!!! What's going on here?!

I really like the looks of the RCS Message features with the emoticons, larger text, etc., and didn't really want to start using Verizon Message+ again. Why aren't my photos being transmitted through the Google Message or Samsung Message apps?

I have NO PROBLEM receiving photos in messages from other people in the Google Message or Samsung Message apps. Only OUTBOUND doesn't work for me!

This is extremely frustrating.

Pretty much.

Stopped working a few days ago for me and three other phones in the household. ( S22 Ultra)

"Advanced messaging is not supported by this sim card"

Wifi calls drop constantly now too. Was solid for years.

I look forward to the verizon email letting me know that RCS is an optional feature now that can be added to my account for only $4.99 per month.

I know how important it is to have the best messaging features, afh. I know that only select Samsung devices can use RCS right now on the Verizon network. The Galaxy S22 is listed, but not the S22 Ultra. You can learn more here: https://www.verizon.com/support/advanced-messaging-faqs/

You also mentioned an issue with dropped Wi-Fi calls, and we wanted to address that as well. What else changed before this issue first started (device changes, home Wi-Fi changes, etc.)? Do you know if anyone else in the family is having the same trouble with Wi-Fi calling? What happens if you forget the Wi-Fi connection and re-establish it?

Thank you for responding.

I was unaware that the S22's Ultra varient did not support "Advanced Messaging" (RCS) on the Verizon network.

My belief is that I have been able to use it for the last couple of years on my current S22 Ultra, but obviously that is mistaken given this information.

Sorry to bother you with this then -- as since it isn't supported by my device(s), I should not be expecting it to work.

Regarding the WiFi calling issue, that was an incidental that I threw in because I thought it might be related to the RCS failure given they both began to occur in the last week. However, now that I understand that my phone has never actually had RCS to begin with, I can see they cannot be related. As such, I will tackle that problem myself.

Yes, Joseph was most helpful.

There is one thing that I still do not understand with respect to the RCS and the S22 Ultra.

Certainly, I will be more careful in the future when I select a device for the Verizon network, so that I can avoid this kind of misunderstanding.

That said, I did visit the link provided by Joseph (above) and am interested in a specific statement made on that Verizon "Advanced Messaging - Enable Chat Messages" section.

In that informative page, there is line that states (specifically referring to the Samsung Messages app, which I use):

"To confirm if Advanced Messaging is enabled, tap Settings in the Messaging app then tap Chat Settings. If you see the Chat Settings menu, then Advanced Messaging is enabled on your device."

Oddly enough, when I try to replicate these instructions, I see the Chat Settings menu mentioned here.

That's all very confusing to me.

I do understand that my S22 Ultra does not support the RCS functionality, as confirmed above, and yet I was quite sure I'd been using for a least a year or so - and now I see that the "test" to see if RCS is enabled looks like it passes.

Ideas?

I have the same question. I have the Samsung Z fold 5 and for the past week, I have had nothing but problems sending photos to any phone, iPhone or Samsung. Text messages work, but not my photos, even at the lowest dpi. I have not changed any of the settings on my phone in a while, so I'm not sure what to do. It's incredibly frustrating!
