not happy about bill

so i was promised $180 and $140 with auto pay, i thought great I'll save money and now looking at my Bill im being charged a extra $40 a month for fee and charges so im still paying 180  i may just cancel within my 30 day period and go back to Metro

Thank you for joining VZ and of course, we want you to have a full understanding of the bill. To get a few more details, is this your first bill? A first bill may be higher due to one-time charges like the activation fee. That is just a one-time charge, and will not reflect on your regular bill (it is only charged when adding a new line). Also besides Auto Pay, are there any other discounts for our unlimited plans you intended to make use of?

It's been my experience (have ported in with Verizon twice now) that the autopay discount doesn't kick in until the 2nd month.
