Greetings...
Two new Verizon customers (and seniors to boot!), S25 Ultra phones, living in the USA, signed up for "Unlimited Ultimate" plan since we do travel internationally a bit. Phones are tied to Verizon so using a secondary eSIM is not possible until the phones are paid off / unlocked. We've read carefully through what the plan offers and think we have a pretty good handle on what it covers as far as data limits, etc.
We're not "power users" by any means...no movie watching, or other heavy data usage, etc. We're not too concerned about exceeding the monthly data allowance and getting "throttled" down...mainly just checking emails, basic internet searches, the occasional call home to kids, data for Google Maps and chats via SMS apps, etc.
With that in mind, are there any settings we should change when we've left the U.S. and are in another country?
- Appears we need to turn "roaming" on to be able to connect to any local networks, correct?
- Should "data saver" be turned on as well?
- If we DO turn those two on, just leave them activated for the duration of the trip or toggle them off when phone not being used? (Our next trip involves traveling on a cruise ship and we'll be putting the phones in "airplane mode" while the days at sea...and then turning AP off when doing shore excursions, etc.)
Finally, we DO use a VPN when travelling so we have some protection on unsecured Wi-Fi connections. Any (known) issues using a VPN with Verizon's Unlimited Ultimate?
Thanks in advance...my, my, how things have changed from the time of party lines and rotary phones when we were kids!
