I will be leaving Verizon. I paid $166 a month for my plan because it was a grandfathered plan with unlimited data. Got hit with $900 in additional charges for calls to Canada when and they demanded I negotiate and give up my current plan. Worst company ever.

Oh, no! We are shocked to see you in this $900.00 additional charge billing dilemma. We do not want you to have a negative impression of the company. The last thing we want is to lose your business. Verizon is here to help.
Please elaborate, what did the negotiations consist of? What resolution are you seeking?

It's "unlimited" only for US usage. While the current plans include Canadian calls, the legacy plan you have either doesn't, or else it has some kind of cap and you went over it.
I'm not a Verizon employee, just another customer trying to help.
