I am attempting to generate a Number Transfer PIN in my online account in order to transfer my mobile number to another service provider. However, when I click Generate PIN, I receive the error message "Error occured with authentication."

Hopefully this isn't an IT issue with Verizon, but are you trying to generate the transfer PIN via the phone app or on a computer? If one of them isn't working, try the other.
If you are a prepaid customer, you cannot generate your own transfer PIN online. No idea why, but you've got to go to a Verizon store and ask an employee to pull up your account on their tablet and only then can you get the PIN!
I'm not a Verizon employee, just another customer trying to help.
