How do I unlock my tablet?

My tablet was returned to me after being stolen & the teen who took it knew the screen lock code. We cannot remember our screen lock (was taken months ago) & it's telling me tgat my email & password don't match up. She appears to have changed everything & I cannot access the tablet. I don't want to hard reset it & lose everything. My son has pictures on it that he'd like to save and were not backed up. I also want to know what she was up to. Any way I can get back into my tablet? Thanks!

I don't suppose it still shows up in your devices on the google play store?  You might be able to install Android Device Manager Android Device Manager - Android Apps on Google Play onto it remotely and then reset the passcode in the process, this works when it is still attached to your account but if it has been removed then it won't.

Great idea!! I'm going to try that even though she unwillingly gave me the passcode last night. Apparently, she hard reset it when she took it. )-;  So, she already got rid of everything I had on it, including pictures I'm not sure my son had backed up yet. Pretty upset with her on that esp, as there were pics & videos he had taken that we wanted.
