VZ Messages PIN

I've received 3 messages from 900080004102 that say "VZ Messages PIN:xxxxxx" with a different PIN number on each. The messages were 20 minutes apart. I haven't tried to access any Verizon product, etc.; was doing something different when the messages came through. Is this a hack in progress?

Everybody, go update your Verizon Messages app on play store and see if this is fixed. Changes noted are continuous PIN generation and battery draining fixes.

This will happen when someone is trying to connect a different device to read text messages. It could be someone trying to get access to read your text messages (they can't if they don't know the PIN), or more likely, someone is mistyping a phone number trying to get access to text messages and wondering why the text message never comes.

I started receiving these messages on March 11 and on March 22 it really ramped up to over 50 messages as this morning.  Please help me stop it!

I called Customer Support this morning - I've received over 70 of them since yesterday afternoon - and the person I spoke with found a ticket open that IT is working on an issue that's causing this.  I've turned off audio and vibration notifications for these texts until it's fixed.

I went to Block Number and started a CHAT.  They entered a block on this number for me since it doesn't fit the regular phone number criteria.  So far I'm at 45 minutes with out a text from that number and they were coming every 10 to 15 minutes.

After my second CHAT the texts are still coming in but the CHAT person had me try something else so I'm hoping you all will try it.   Go to your TEXT and send a text to the SPAM reporting number - 7726.  Send a text to this number reporting this SPAM with a description.  You will get a text back asking you to reply with the number -  900080004102.  I wish us all luck but the texts are still coming in after 40 minutes.

Your account security is our top priority, AUDWAG88. I’d be happy to help you today and investigate these messages even further for you.

I did send you a private message to go over a few account details and get to the bottom of where these messages are coming from. We look forward to working with you.

I'm also having this issue. I've received 4 different messages with PIN numbers that I haven't requested.

This has been reported off and on following a Verizon Messages app update (and there have been several over the past 2 months).  I have updated each time, and did not receive these texts, but others have reported receiving them, multiple times, at evenly spaced intervals.  Why?  I have no clue.  The update may reset something and the text is sent as the app tries to reconnect?? I'm guessing....

TO FIX: I had this issue (VZ Messages PIN ????) but so far it appears that I was able to fix it by making another text message application the default (other than Verizon Message+).  Waited for a while to see if the text messages stopped (which it did).  Day later I reverted the default message app back to Verizon Message+ and so far, still no PIN text.

DETAILS: A little more details of the issue and fix, there is a setting called "Integrated Messaging Features" in Message+.  Once you tap on the "Activate Account" (to backup your messages for past 90 days to the network) then the issue (VZ Messages PIN ????) started back up again. Unfortunately, once you 'activate account' then you cannot deactivate it with the same process.  To reset your Message+, either update the app itself or make another text message app the default.  Wait for a while to verify that the VZ PIN messages have stopped and you can return to Message+ but DON'T activate it in the integrated messaging features again or you will start to see the VZ PIN messages return.

I've also read, and was going to try next if switching the default message app didn't work, was to update the app in the app store (but I already had the latest app).  Another person did a full phone reset that stopped the PIN Text (but I don't want to go through resetting my phone) but I bet deleting the Message+ app and then re-installing it would have the same effect.

FINAL NOTE:  I also have my phone set to send my text messages to my email so the only other anomaly to the VZ Message issue is that I only got in my email and not actually as a text.  Since the header on my email lists my mobile number like all other forwarded text, then I knew it was an issue with my text messaging, not my email.  This also leads me to believe that this VZ Message PIN (issue) might be running in the background and most people do not actually see the VZ Message PIN until something toss in a monkey wrench by adding something in the mix like connecting multiple devices, changing devices, forwarding text (to my email in this case), or by turning on the Integrated Messaging Feature.

Dear Verizon / Technical Support

I've been receiving many messages requesting for my account pin number- one after another.

How do I post a question?  All I can find is  reply. Please help I have the same issue.

I've received 10 messages starting at 1:24 am. Had to turn my ringer on silent so I can sleep, but I'm still getting them (got another while writing this).  Messages are coming from the same number the op posted above.

LEDHEAD6879, we understand your concern. These messages contain a PIN number that is sent to make changes to your account or to get access to certain parts of your online account. We do recommend checking your online passwords and your main account to make sure your Account PIN has not been changed. These messages could be sent by mistake, but we want to make sure all precautions are taken. Are you still receiving these messages? If so, please meet us on Twitter by following and sending a DM to @VZWSupport or by sending a Private Message via Facebook at Facebook.com/Verizon.

I actually got this last month 2/2 with the exact same issue 3 messages from 900080004102 that say "VZ Message PIN:xxxxxx" exactly 20 mins apart.  When I called customer service they told me that they can see all messages that Verizon sent out to me but these messages weren't showing on their end.  And sent me to the fraud department only for them to send me back to customer support and that looped.  Now I got 3 messages again again and they're exactly 15 minutes apart.  I considered that a 3rd party site could be texting to provide a pin but it says "VZ" and Verizon doesn't seem to have a way to figure out what or who the number 900080004102 is.

That is definitely odd. May we ask if this has ever occurred before? Have you noticed any changes to your account? KleoL_VZW

Hello,

Thanks for responding but why doesn't anyone at Verizon know this is happening? It's blowing up on the internet. Verizon is doing nothing but having Verizon Reps. ask the same questions over and over. Let me tell the problem again for the fourth time:

On March 11th I started receiving texts from 900080004102 (apparently a fake VZ number). I now have over 200 messages stating the same thing:

"VZ Messages PIN:

I've been getting this for the past couple of days. Chatting with Verizon Support and they said they made "the change for you", whatever that means. No further details. I'll hope it stops and they didn't stupidly just block their own number.

I've received 14 such messages in the last two days.  I am becoming annoyed.

I am getting at least 7 msgs per hour...

"We were unable to connect your device to synchronize with Verizon Integrated Messaging service. You can attempt to reconnect your device to Verizon Integrated Messaging through the Settings menu of the application."

This is really frustrating.  Some of the messages send me a PIN number also but most say this above message.
