Is there any way to keep my verizon.net E-mail address if I cancel my Internet service?
If you sign up for Verizon Your Domain and link it to the address before you cancel it should remain active as long as you pay for VYD ($19.95/year).
I'm in a similar situation. We currently have FiOS and are moving to an area without Verizon coverage. We want to keep our verizon.net email addresses. The Verizon Your Domain page says (under Membership Details):
-Available to High Speed Internet and FiOS customers only.-Email linking unavailable for Verizon Yahoo and Verizon with Windows Live customers.
Obviously if we aren't Verizon customers, we won't have FiOS or High Speed Internet service.
Thoughts? Suggestions?
Thanks

You have to have the service to sign up for VYD (there has to be an initial account to link it to), but not to keep it. Note the line at the top that specifically says: Keep your email address, even if you switch providers.
The domain thing does work . . . sorta. We went on sabbatical to Princeton from CA last year. It took multiple calls to Verizon to figure out a solution for me to keep my email name for the year we were going to be gone. After a half dozen people told me it could not be done, we got someone who could do it. The thing a rep finally came up with was to get a domain. So I paid the $20 and got the domain and it worked. I got to keep my email name. The problem came when I went back to CA and re-established my Verizon internet. Verizon refused to let me associate my email name back to my internet service and told me I would have to keep paying the $20 a year for the domain. So stupid. I spent literally dozens of hours with multiple reps in a ton of departments. Talked to people all over the globe. Everyone told me it was impossible to do. I was on hold and transferred so many times. I got so frustrated I got heart palpitations and had to go into a yoga pose to calm down. After a couple weeks of trying I thought of a way to get help. I used the internet to look up names of Verizon VPs and searched for a private Verizon email for them. I finally got the email of a Verizon VP. Sent him a quick email pretending I knew him (used his first name) and asked him to forward my problem to a person who could figure it out. Suddenly I had a competent live person call me and it worked out. I did not even get put on hold. The person said she would figure it out and call me back in a day, and she did. So use the domain thing, but caution in thinking you can easily re-associate your email name if you reestablish Verizon internet service.
Is thie correct???
What do I have to do to keep my e-mail with verizon? I cancelled my phone service before I knew I would have to take some action

For one thing, search the forums. This topic has been covered in great detail many times.
We now have the domain name mrsekssims from Verizon set. My questions how do we keep our 3 MSN accounts?
Ed Sims
I paid $20 to keep my e-mail for one year....but it was terminated anyway. This completely is not acceptable!!
Hi PatOliveri
Just a friendly reminder, this is a forum where users help other users. It looks like your issue may require a Verizon representative to review your account details. If you have a residential account, yes, you can do www.keepmyemail.com and keep your email address. BUT if you are a BUSINESS account holder like myself, THERE IS NO WAY TO KEEP OUR BUSINESS EMAIL ADDRESS. I was told by Verizon's business account representative that keepmyemail is ONLY FOR RESIDENTIAL CUSTOMERS.
I am a business owner and I am moving to an area where there is no Verizon service. I would think it is more important for business owners to keep the same email address. My business depends on emails. Although I will send out email address change notices to those customers I can contact by email/mail, there are so many people I gave out my business cards with my verizon.net email address to many people, and that includes those who not contacted me yet so there is no way for me to reach these potential customers. I have been a faithful Verizon customer since 2005 and this is like Verizon's sayig {word filter avoidance} in my face. I am quite upset about this.
Verizon's customer service has gone down the drain in the last few years. What happened? It used to be very nice, but these days every time I ask for something, nothing gets done correctly the first time and it takes hours of calls to get a simplest thing done.
I don't want to discontinue my Internet Service. I am moving and need to cancel my landline service {edited for privacy} and my Direct TV service (already done). I need to keep my cell phone and internet service. Please let me know what I need to do.
Thanks!

To Whom It May Concern:
My name is {edited for privacy} I recently switched my tv, internet, and phone from Verizon to Comcast, ,however I need to transfer my email information from my verizon acct. to my comcast acct. Verizon terminated my acct. on 6-25-2013. They reinstituted it on 7-11-2013 just long enough for me to eport my email information from my Verizon acct. to my Comcast acct. I have followed the info. from Comcast to complete that process, however when I put in my Verizon acct. user name and password, an error message comes up saying that one or both are invalid. I urgently need your help to complete this process. My correct information for Verizon is as follows: e{edited for privacy}
I await your response with any suggestions. {edited for privacy}

Set up a Gmail account and simply have all your VZ mail forwarded to Gmail. That will certainly take care of your issues until you get settled in your new situation. This works because even though you may cancel your VZ services, your email account remains active for some time afterward. BTW, consider using Gmail as your main address, and you will never have to worry in the future.
As long as you can stand the US government prying into your private affairs, that is.
I moved from California to Kansas and had to disconnect my FIOS because it's unavailable in Kansas. I want to keep my verizon.net e-mail......please assist.

I am changing my phone and internet service due to continued raising cost with Verizon...I want to keep my current e-mail address...{edited for privacy}
keep my verizon email
Don't waste your time and money trying to keep the @verizon.net email address. Why? Because, that email domain belongs to Verizon and if you cancel or move, that's the end of it unless you move to an area that also has Verizon service. Many folks get used to their ISP email address then, find out how much hassel it is to move or change ISP's etc.
The best practice is to put all your eggs in a public (free email service) email basket and then you will be free to move, cancel, go with cable, cancel, go with some other ISP, cancel or move again and so forth. Your email remains the same because you are using an email service that is not dependant upon the ISP or internet service you subscribe to.
I used to think the ISP email was the only way to go because of security and the support that I got with the ISP I was a customer of. Lately, this kind of thinking isn't the best because as time moves on, the ISP's, such as Verizon in this case, have reduced the capacity, support features and not kept that service in line with the faster speeds such as Fios. Actually, in the recent past when calling support, I was told that verizon.net email is bundled with your internet service but it isn't supported the same. I asked, are you sure? and was told yes, our email is a free service so it isn't supported, just the internet connection is. Of course I knew that wasn't really true but you'd be suprised how many tech support people over there with Verizon actually make that statement. They even go so far as to suggest using a "free" service such as Gmail. My response to that was, "why would I do that if Verizon.net email is free and not supported?"
I'd just go with a Gmail email account/email service and set up your phones, computers etc. to either use thier webbased service or configure Outlook or Windows Live Mail to read and send them. Those software's are refered to as "clients" and tend to work much better than a browser.
My two cents
I am moving out of verizon area...want to keep email address
WANT TO KEEP VERIZON E MAIL{edited for privacy}@VERIZON.NET
What a joke, call the 800 services # and they tell you it has to be done online. Went to My Domain found what I needed but would not let me order the 19.95 a year plan. Did the online chat with Nathan and he tells me I have to call the 800 services # cause I can't do it online it has to be done over the phone.
For me the Verizon your domain worked excellently. I'm in a new area without FIOS so I am using Optimum cable. My mass email (forums, etc, I also use gmail accounts) goes through Verizon and is picked up by my desktop Eudora POP regularly. In fact, I will not be using my Optimum email addies much, because they don't have an equivalent service and I don't want to have problems down the road.Steven
