I use Outlook to get to my Verizon email. On Wednesday 9/17/14, mail went down as I was unable to connect to pop.verizon.net and smtp.verizon.net. WebMail was also unavailable as I was unable to log in sucessfully.
On Friday 9/19/14, support told me "there was an outage and I should try again in 24 hours".
On Sunday 9/21/14, I was able to get to WebMail, but I am still unable to connect via Outlook...
Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks Lawrence. I did try this, but was unable to get logged in to myverizon.com/enetrmypin with my account. However, I'm on with Verizon tech support now and we have manually reset the password to no avail...
They are trying to open a ticket for me now so I don't have to start over the next time I call in.
Tech support did say ther are having problems with Verizon mail, but that is all I know at the moment. I will reply to this with any solutions I hear about...!

I am having the exact same issue for the same time period. I am able to access my accounts, even reset password to no avail. Have tried other computers and software at multiple locations. Always get server time outs, no response from server.

We have not had email since 9-17-14 - I have been on the phone with Verizon tech help for 20 hours and they dont have a clue. I guess Verizon is out of the email business since after 20 years they cant maintain service.
Rather pathetic excuss of a company -

That link is also for the email lockout issue. It gives the Verizon number to call if you are having sub account or issues that can't be dealt with by changing your main account password.

Why have Verizon.net email clients not been notified of Verizon policy established in Sept 2014, which prevented overseas access to pop.verizon.net server?
And why are the Verizon customer service technicians not aware of this policy, when contacted for technical support related to this issue?

I am having a version of the same problem. Starting last Wednesday, I couldn't access email from either my desktop Mail icon or webmail via my home (Time Warner) wireless. I could from my phone using public or other wifi networks--but not my home account. Webmail came back up on Friday. Verizon told me there was an outtage but it was back up.
I tried to reinstall email on my ipad from home but got a message that the POP server pop.verizon.net isnt responding.
The Time Warner tech spent a ton of time with me and concluded that when TW tries to connect to the verizon server, it doesn't recognize it as valid. This isn't something TW can address--it was able to recognize the server just fine prior to Wednesday.
Is there another verizon server to try? Please help--webmail is only a temp solution for me. Thanks!

If we're all having the same problem, it is almost certainly a Verizon problem...! Of course, after 3 chat sessions and over 2 hours on the phone with Tech Support, it was their opinion that it is an Outlook problem... This is ridiculous as it was working fine until Wednesday and I haven't changed anything on my end.
The Tech Support guys did say that there was a "email problem", but I couldn't get any specifics.
It makes me crazy that Verizon will put users through all this unnecessary work and just admit that they have a problem.
If I hear of any solution, I'll post it!
P.S. - I'm in Northeast Oklahoma with a local DSL connection...

I'm in Brooklyn, NY. I use Windows Live Mail, and, for the past 2 days I have not been able to send out any mail. I get a "Time out", or a "Server not responding" error message and my mail sits in the outbox.
My Verizon webmail works fine; I can receive and send from my PC and cell phone.
One would think that Verizon Customer Service would advise its customers of a problem and that it would be resolved soon...NAHHHH! Wishful thinking on my part.

I was online twice in the past two days with Verizon support. Was told they were having issues with their pop server and would be fixed by the end of the day. Weird thing is I can get mail on my phone when NOT connected to wireless (via LTE) but cannot get mail on my iphone or my macbook when connected via wireless. This has been since 9/17 - very frustrating.

Same problem. Mine is can't send or receive anyting fro home wifi (Att Uverse). pop mail works over att 4g on cell phone, sprint wifi, centurylink wifi, anywhere but home. Also my pc laptop at home will not send or receive thru outlook on my uverse wifi, nor will my ipad. All three devices work EVERYWHERE but home wifi on uverse.
I changed no settings and this all came down about a week ago. You guys are my tribe, the ones who are experiencing the same thing. I'll lurk here for the fix.

No verizon mail coming in or out since Sept 17th 2014 on any of my Macs (desktop, laptop,iPad or iPhone).
Port 995 not recognized or timed out. Very frustrated. Tried Network utilities -didn't show port was open. Used alternate program Air Mail again 995 not a valid port. Something wrong has gone on with Verizon ports. Talked to verizon Tech and did not get a solution.

I feel your pain...! Been in this boat wit hthe rest of you since 9/17 and my Outlook still won't connect to pop.verizon.net. Best best responce I got from Verizon was from a FiOS tech on Thursday the 25th where he said that there was a problem with the POP servers and they had no clue when it would be resolved. That is far and away the most honest answer I've heard yet!
I've had this verizon.net address for 17 years and have never seen anything even close to this. It would sure be nice if Verizon would communicate with it's users instead of making all of us individuals waste countless hours chasing our tail...!
Just saw a pig fly over the house, so maybe more miracles are coming...

it may not be all of the POP servers, but only some. I'd have to agree with that as I had a helpful tech on Monday who also (sucessfully) uses Outlook to access her Verizon email. Via screen sharing, she agreed to set up a profile on MY Outlook to access HER email and it failed. Then she was transferring me to the FiOS department and I got disconnected...
Overall, it is my opinion that Verizon has the worst customer service imaginable... Please prove me wrong!

The tech I talked with at about 4am 10/1 said there was ticket #{edited for privacy} on this issue with about 127? people connected to it. The ticket was updated an hour earlier to estimate a repair time of 0700EDT 10/1. Well, that time came and went and still no resolution except that the estimated repair has been bumped a day to 1700EDT 10/2.
Apparantly there was a security problem and Verizon shut off all access to email from overseas. This included the webmail interface. A few days later thy brought the webmail interface back on line, but access from mail clients with overseas IP addresses is still closed.
I've heard lots of different things about this from various techs and forum posters. But I can't find anything more helpful than the ticket ID above. The last tech I spoke to set up a new trouble ticket for me and linked it to the one above. So now I at least can see that they've bumped the estimated resolution another day.
It would be a lot better if Verizon were providing regular and accessible updates for it's techs and for its customers on this issue. It's really frustrating for all of us to be in the dark on this. And there seem to be quite a few of us.

I was on the phone last night with a customer service rep and her supervisor. It was obvious that they had no idea what they were talking about, I wish their Customer Service was in the USA where you could understand what the heck they were saying and not India. I was told that Verizon has killed the ability for MS Outlook to log into their POP3 server from the Internet, which I have been doing for over 10+ years. They say you must be using the Verizon ISP network to use Outlook. They onlly way to check email is with Webmail when you are not own the Verizon Network. They swore this happened months ago but strange my wife's IPAD worked on the Cox.net last week and mine worked in a McDonaolds on Monday.
It still works on my ATT Smart Phone. That blows the Verizon ISP explanation.
Has anyone else been fed this line {word filter avoidance}?
