With some difficultly, it is possible to find these instructions for how to set up verizon email with various email programs. https://www.verizon.com/ForYourHome/VZRepair/vziha/Service.aspx?ihaweb=EmailSetup. Outlook 2010 is an option, but Outlook 2013 is not. The setup screens are organized differently in outlook 2013, but most are there is the same form. I was able to successfully set up outlook 2013 using all the settings given for outlook 2010 except for names for the incoming and outgoing server. What works is incoming.verizon.net and outgoing.verizon.net. (The outlook 2010 instructions say to make the incoming server pop.verizon.net and gives no instructions are what to set the outgoing server to.)
It's unbelievable that Verizon has not added instructions for outlook 2013. 2 hours wasted unnecessarily.

use pop.verizon.net port 995 ssl
and smtp.verizon.net. port 465 ssl
password in the clear (normal) and not Secure Authenticated, apop or some other other special format.
Verizon has always been slow to add new email client instructions. Really should not be necessary to get specific since the basic settings are the same for every email client. The Email client should let you know where you put these settings.

The screen clips below show the Outlook pop/smtp settings I use since the verizon email is also a yahoo email. Using these settings work for sending and receiving. I've been using these settings for a couple of verizon email accounts for quite awhile now without any problems. If anyone is aware of any problems with using these settings, please let me (us) know.
