I'm really starting to dislike Verizon almost as much as I dislike Cox. Why is it that only my primary account is constantly badgered to change the password, select a pretty picture, pick a silly question when I login to my account. I see that my link now feeds me to a “verizonwireless” domain – this is new. My sub-accounts are not being annoyed by this alleged security check. I can find no information, either in the Forum or in any communications from Verizon.
What is going on?
Does anyone else experience this issue?
I've had problems before with my computers being flagged since I refuse to use the dominant OS. Maybe it has to do with that?

I'm not bothered by selecting a photo for my "site key" and entering a question in case I forget my password. Those are good security measures but I've noticed myself that it goes through "Verizon Wireless" which I don't understand either. I don't even subscribe to Verizon Wireless .

The last 2 weeks when I try to sign into my email, I will start in the residential sign on page then it takes me to the wireless sign in after putting in my user name and I click residential/email for a second time and am abe to sign in then.
Is there a fix for this (?) because checking email has because a real pain!

The change the Verizon made relative to the log-in procedure (ID, Password, Picture, etc.) is the dumbest that has ever been. Even after I register my computer, I still have to go through this stupidity. The "Keep me registered ...." dosn't work. I chatted with verizon, called and spoke with custormer service twice in addition to sending them feedback. The answer has always been "we are aware of this problem, our engineers are working on it and NO we have no idea when it will be resolved". This has been going on since Verizon switched to the new Picture Security log in procedure. Instead of improvong the procedure, they broke it. What kind of dumb engineers Verizon has who can't resolve a simple issue like this for months? What knid of a "tech" company is this? Are there any managers, executives, or whomever in this company who follow up and do something?
Verizon, you are pathetic and do not deserve our business. A 5 year old child can run this company better!!!!!
(you know what is funny, after writing this post, I clicked on "PREVIEW" button to review before posting, the Preview button doesn't work!!!)

I had the same problem for weeks until I stumbled on the following workaround solution for being re-directed to VZW:
From the Verizon.com residential home page at the very top right side of the page, click on the “(change)” link next to “Your Location” .
A “CHECK AVAILABILITY” page will appear. Click on “EXISTING CUSTOMER”.
Then, an “EXISTING CUSTOMER” page will appear.
Enter your userid and click “CONTINUE”.
Then, a “SIGN-IN” page will appear. Enter your password and click on “CONTINUE”.
On the next page (“Please give us permission to access your account for better service”), click either “CONTINUE” or “NO THANKS”.
Now you will see that you are logged in to your account similar as before. I was finally able to access my e-mail and all other services, which I hadn’t been able to do. It has been working everytime without errors, etc. for almost two weeks.
Please let me know if this works for any of you.Thanks.

Yes, This seems to work for now, but we should not have to go thru all these ridiculous steps to view our Email.
Thanks for your help!!
Too bad Verizon could not give us a work around solution. You would think with all their programmers, etc. they would have this issue fixed.
I guess they are paying their employees, programmers low wages. Verizon is just going downhill lately with all the ridiculous changes, Weather Channel Discontinuous, etc.
We are getting sub-par services anymore. I have been a lifelong customer.
I guess I will not renew my contract when it is up and go with another service provider. We are not getting services that we pay a ridiculous price for each month.
They are going to lose alot of customers with all these changes.

I am glad that it is working for you. I agree with everything you said. The shame of it is I am a VZ retiree and was a programmer. I feel a little embarrased to say so because the teams I worked with were very sharp and fixed problems in a very timely fashion for our internal clients. All of my services are with VZ FiOS and I feel like the service has continually gone down hill when you can't even get someone to follow up on unresolved weeks-long trouble tickets as I myself have experienced. I have spent countless hours talking to customer service and support folks on the phone and chat without any suggestions that actually worked. And the forum moderators seem robotic with their canned responses when many folk seem to be having the same problems without any updates, let alone when they will be fixed. I am hoping things can only go up and t is a good thing subscribers can share and help each other.

To vzretiree51:
I just happened to stumble upon your solution to the problem and I want to thank you for sharing that because it makes logging into my Verizon email account much easier. I don't have the time or the patience to switch over to cable and I really think that the quality of the Fios product is far superior. I just don't understand what Verizon Wireless has to do with any of this. But as other people have pointed out here, these changes are being implemented and thrust upon us customers without working out the kinks and testing to make sure everything is running right. People have a right to be annoyed by this after all this money that we are paying for the service.
I have both IE and Firefox. Both browsers would go through Verizon Wireless and on IE, I would get an error message and therefore, I would have to log in twice every time and only from IE. The extra security measure with a site key is not unusual, as other corporations have similar measures on their websites. It's the implementation that's poor. I'm not an expert and I know nothing about programming but the lack of common sense is terrible.
I'm not surprised that this workaround solution has not been communicated but thank you for mentioning this. Calling customer service about this would have wasted a lot of time and it would have gone nowhere. A lot of Verizon issues get communicated poorly or not at all. At least by coming here, I'm usually able to find a workable solution to the problem and you are correct about these canned responses that don't really address the issue.

questioning, you are very welcome. Hopefully, others will find that it works for them, especially using Chrome. I know that I could not get anything to work using IE 9, but have not tried Firefox yet. My OS is Windows Vista, so I don't know if that makes any difference also.

Thank you vzretiree51 so much for providing that work around.
I was very suspicious when I got redirected to the Verizon Wireless web site.
I was also mad that this is not listed as a top issue, which it should be.
Some of us are not new to computers or the dangers the Internet poses. When all of a sudden the pages change for login etc, I am not / will not just enter my information. Companies all the time are being hacked these days and I for one do not want my information falling into hackers hands.
Verizon you need to inform your customers when such drastic changes are taking place, before hand not after the fact.
This compiled with other issues recently are hedging me to switch to another provider when my contract is up.

OH and just for Verizons information, the link provided does not solve this issue.
So this issue is not resolved.
But at least vzretiree51 has provided us with a solution that we could feel was trusted.
Thanks Again

ZandorRI, you are very welcome. I am a retired IT person and I believe that there are probably persons at VZ who must know exactly what is going on, but for whatever the reason(s), the problems are not being addressed because there may be bigger problems like you've thought about also, as in a big hack attack on their network system, maybe hardware as well as software. Maybe it has been hard for them to resolve them. There is no logical reason that in the login prcess we are being redirected to the VZW site, let alone being asked to change the password after the first time, new security procedures aor not. Worst is the company's communications with it's customers, especially long-time subsrcibers.

I also have a degree in Computer and Networking and it could very well be what you suggested. However, I am beginning to think they are just trying to consolidate the 2 into 1. For example they closed all the FIOS stores in our area & combined them with the Wireless stores. Cost savings they told us at the store. Just check if your store is still there before you go, seems they don't keep up on updating their web pages to reflect the closings. Cheers!

Hi there,
Just to thank you for posting the work-around, which worked for me too.
Last night I started a 'Chat' session with a Verizon operative about the problem. I kept entering my logon, and password and being redirected to the Verizon Wireless logon. I don't have a wireless account!
I would click on 'forgot password' and change the password and start again, only to be redirected to the Verizon Wireless account again.
So I started the 'Chat' and the operative took control of my machine.
After trying several times doing exactly what I did, he paused to contact the 'network team'. He returned to try the same again several times. By this time he had been connected for over an hour and it was 1:30 in the morning... so I decided to terminate... he asked for a few more minutes... doing exactly the same from several different directions... but always getting back to the Verizon Wireless logon page. I finally had enough and he asked me to try on another device.. which I had already done.. seeing the same problem... he ended by saying that the problem was with my devices and quit!
This morning, I spent about an hour searching for a resolution.... we are in the UK and the Verizon 'Chat' isn't open yet. Interestingly the 'Pin' number system that Verizon have to reconnect only works with the Primary account holder....
Fortunately, I found your post and now my wife is connected.... then I thought that I would try my account... I am the primary.. and guess what.... came up with exactly the same problem... again resolved by your work-around!
So, thanks again!
Now the issue has me wondering whether it could be a Java problem... I updated that yesterday, or whether it is a Windows 10 issue.... which I updated about a month ago....
Anyway, that is not for me to deal with!
