Gizmo watch 3 contact issue

We just got my son's Gizmo watch and set it up. When trying to add 1 specific contact I am alerted that I need to add that number as a "buddy" and the guardian will be notified. The phone number belongs to an iPhone and not another Gizmo device. It will not allow me to add it because it thinks it's a Gizmo "buddy". All other contacts were added with no issues. After speaking with customer service for 1 hr yesterday they decided to send me a new device. I really don't think this will fix the problem since it seems to be specific to one phone number. Everything else works fine. How can I fix this? I just want to add my son's grandfather as a calling contact and not a "buddy".

Hello, Jwest1, we want to help ensure that you are able to add contacts to your son's Gizmo Watch. Earlier you mentioned that you are looking to add his grandfather as a Calling Contact as opposed to a Gizmo Buddy. To clarify, a Gizmo Buddy will have the ability to call and text with the Gizmo Watch whereas a Calling Contact only has the ability to call. Additional details can be found on page 15 in the User Guide under Verizon Info here: https://www.verizon.com/support/verizon-gizmo-watch-3/. What category were you able to add the other contacts as? Are you looking to remove the ability to text?

With the contact that I have problems with, I donโt have a choice about what kind of contact they are. The app automatically makes them a buddy and I canโt change it.

That's exactly what was happening with ours. It appears the number was previously a gizmo watch a long time ago and never unlinked. I emailed this address and they fixed it quickly. [email address removed per the Verizon Terms of Service]

Hello I am having the same issue with my sonโs gizmo 2 and trying to add my daughters new iPhone as a contact. I have called Verizon and it has not been fixed. Do you still have the email to the person that helped you resolve this?

Were you able to resolve this? If so, how? I'm having the same problem and I spent way too long chatting with customer service with no resolution. Thanks!

Unfortunately no and they even sent a new watch, but that didn't change anything because it's an issue with the phone number and not the watch. ๐

Thanks. That stinks! In my case the phone number we are trying to add is one of our lines and was previously a gizmo but hasn't been for several years. I'm guessing the only solution for us to be able to add big sister as a contact is to change her phone number.

Same here! The line I'm trying to add is on my account. I'm assuming it was a gizmo previously, but has belonged to us now for a few years. It's crazy that Verizon can't figure out a solution to this

Hi @Jwest1 , I contacted the email address listed under developer contact for gizmohub in the google play store (I'm assuming it could also be found in apple's app store). They told me that they would be able to remove any gizmo related to the phone number. It hasn't been resolved yet but it seems I've finally found the right people to get it done. I hope that can help you!

@Jwest1 Please let me know what you had to do to get your issue resolved. Trying to get the kids mom on there and weโre having the same issues. Also seems like Verizon has no idea on what to do
