Several Gizmo-related Questions

Hello,

 

On Black Friday, we are planning on purchasing two Gizmo watches for our kids and have a few questions associated with that. 

 

1. Right now, my wife and I are both on Unlimited Welcome with the hotspot add-on only for me (she doesn't need it), but I was planning to upgrade just my line to Unlimited Plus since it includes the hotspot and we'd save half the monthly price of one of the Gizmos by doing so. The end result should be the same monthly price as what I'm paying now for Unlimited Welcome with the hotspot add-on. Is there any advantage of switching my plan before or after the Gizmo purchases, or does it not matter?

2. As of now, my kids do not have phone numbers since these will be their first devices. Is it advisable to add new lines for then as part of that purchase?

3. Finally, as of today, you save $50 off each Gizmo if you make monthly device payments for 36 months. Are you able to sign up for monthly device payments and then pay them off in full, or would that eliminate the $50 savings? I ask because I'd rather not finance such a small purchase for three years.

Great question, Heldmacm. If the plan was changed to take place that day, that is the date that any applicable discount would apply. The expectation is that you would see it on the next invoice, but the discount would only apply starting the day that the plans was changed. For example, if the lines were on the account for 1 day without the discount and the remainder of the days with the discount, the you would see a charge for only one day without the discount and the remainder of the days with the discount on your next invoice. Please let us know if we can assist with answering any additional concerns regarding your new service and plan changes.

Thank you for reaching out with your questions for your account and Gizmo watches. 

 

1.) The 50% off savings would only take effect once the plan is active, f you change the plan after without backdating in the same bill cycle (if eligible) you will pay the full line price. 

 

2.) New lines would be required as part of the purchase. 

 

3.) The $50 discount is attached to the full 35 months so buying them out early would result in a promotion charge back for the same amount.

Thanks for the reply.  I activated both Gizmos yesterday and only switched my plan this morning and did so as soon as possible (today) but did not have the option to backdate.  Instead, I could make it effective today in lieu of next cycle, which I did.  Does that mean I won't get the discount until next cycle or not even then?  If the latter, it sounds like I should downgrade back to my original plan with the mobile hotspot because I'd otherwise be paying $5 a month extra.

So just to confirm, will I be eligible for the 50% off one device discount by switching to that plan today, which was a day after activating the watch(es)?  If so, when will that take effect?  Thanks again.

Great question. That depends if you backdated the plan. If not the discount would not apply.  -Joe

I did not have the ability to backdate the plan change - only to make it take effect that day, which I did.  Does that mean I won't have the discount for the remainder of this cycle (but it will automatically take effect next cycle) or it won't ever?  The latter doesn't make any sense to me given that I have an eligible device and plan to save 50% off the monthly price of one device.

Thank you, Andi.  As long as I understand your reply correctly that worst case scenario the half off one device will take effect no later than the next billing cycle, that addresses my question.  My understanding is that on my current bill, I'll have one day's worth of charges for one of the new watches since I switched to Unlimited Plus one day after they were activated, and the remainder of this cycle will have one of the devices discounted at 50% off.  That will then continue as long as nothing else changes in terms of my plan or the devices on it.  Thanks again.
