This is my first post, so I will try and not make myself look like an *****. However I did run into something quite interesting last week, and i though it was worth noting, as I'm pretty sure that a Verizon Corporate Store is owen by Verizon, and the Customer Service People that answer when i dial 611 also work for Verizon.
I live in a remote town in South Dakota, we don't have a Verizon Store, the nearest one is 125 miles away. I was going to that town last week, and since I knew I was eligible for an upgrade on April 2, 2011, I figured what the heck, i am only 2 days away from April 2, I'll see if I can pick up a phone when I get into town. I call the Customer Service number, and once I verified all my information, the lady on the end of the phone said, "Yes, you are eligible for an upgrade on April 2, 2011" BUT "No, you can't do it early". I kindly thanked her and we both hung up.
I finished my business in town, and decided I would swing over the Verizon Corporate Store to check out the new ThunderBolt. The lady at the store asked for my name and number, and about 5 mins later a manager came over and said "I see you are eligible for an upgrade on April 2.....I can get you one today if you like, but I can't upgrade you to the ThunderBolt or Iphone as you can only get those with your NE2 (which doesn't exist anymore). I said no thanks, I'll wait for the 2 of April and order my iphone online.
He told me I wouldn't be able to order it online, that I would have to call CSR and that they have to call another company and see if it would be okay for me to use my annual upgrade on the iphone. I took his business card and said I would call on April 2 and have hime help me.
The 2nd of April came on Saturday, I logged into my verizon account, and sure enough, "Eligible for an upgrade".....I clicked on "Upgrade Now" selected the Iphone 16GB version, and recieved it on Tuesday.
SO..............with all that being said, why is it that the employees of Verizon cannot all be on the same page...........one lady tells me I can't upgrade, another one says I can, but not to a certain phone.......and low and behold, they were both wrong.
I've been with verizon for 8 years, and I"ve never gotten two answers that are the same from any employee.
Jeez................
