S24 Ultra not updating

Hi.  I have an S24 Ultra which has not been getting updates since the March 1 security updates.  As I understand it, there have been 3 releases since then, but every time I manually check, it says I'm up-to-date.  I've spoken to Verizon Level 2 support who said it was a Samsung issue, and Samsung support says it's a Verizon issue.  The phone works perfectly fine in all other regards.

I've tried using both Smart Switch and the Verizon Software Upgrade Assistant to manually try to update the phone, but SS  shows no software updates and the Verizon assistant keeps showing me a greyed out Next button.   Samsung said that since it's out of warranty, my only option is to either send it to them for repair, leaving me without a work/personal phone for at least a week, or take it to UBreakIFix to pay for them to verify it's not a hardware issue before then sending it to Samsung.

What other options are there?

Here is a link with the most up to date software details for this phone: https://www.verizon.com/support/samsung-galaxy-s24-ultra-update/

It does look like there are more recent updates. The next step would be to try a back up and reset the phone completely. Here is a link with details on how to do that.  https://www.verizon.com/support/knowledge-base-306145/

Let us know if you have any trouble after trying that.

I looked elsewhere on the internet, and a few potential causes are:

  • lack of free storage space
  • some 3rd party app interfering with updates - try booting the phone in safe mode and if it downloads software updates in safe mode, there's some app which is blocking updates
  • incorrect CSC (country specific code)

Thanks for the reply @SynthpopAddict.  I have 340GB of storage available (I hope that's enough!) and unfortunately safe mode didn't help with prompting any updates.  I believe my CSC is OYN.

You're welcome.  Everything looks OK regarding my earlier list then.  There was an issue with certain Samsung phones refusing to update properly earlier this year - it was reported in a thread by one of the forum admins in the Announcements section.  (https://community.verizon.com/t5/Announcements/Galaxy-Software-Update-Installation-Issues/td-p/17988...) So maybe the glitch has popped back up for some reason.  If your S24 Ultra is a Verizon variant, I'd keep on leaning on tech support about the issue.  If it's a factory unlocked Samsung, would file a bug report with Samsung.
